The Quiet Place Award for Kindest Member

Let's face it, there's a lot of aresholes here at GFF. When it comes to being mean, some of our members could probably write a pretty decent manual and then refuse to show it to anyone, keeping the secrets for their own meanspirited purposes.

Despite this however and surprisingly to some, we have a special section of the boards reserved for quiet reflection and advice, The Quiet Place. Even in this bastion of peace, there are those of us who favour a brand of tough love over any sort of mollycoddling but this is not always the case.

There are some among us who are veritable e-saints, who are always happy to lend an ear to a troubled soul and for whom helpful advice is never far from their lips, er... fingers, you know what I mean. There are some seriously kind people here and you'll probably find most of them in The Quiet Place. This award is to recognise who in your eyes is GFF's kindest member or at least, has been through this year. Standard nominations rules apply, as detailed in the rules thread.

I have to nominate The Beaner, a.k.a. Encephalon. That dirty fence-jumper is always willing to lend an e-ear to whatever troubles you may have and, if you've the taste for it, can reccomend (and sometimes provide) the appropriate alcoholic beverage and music to help you cope with whatever you're going through. Sure, he can be an ass, but I've yet to see him act a fool without justification. After all, you don't have to be a little bitch to be kind.

He doesn't let a silly thing like the fact you're from the internet get in the way when it comes to being a good guy, nobody knows better than I just how far this man will go to make you feel welcome when you're a stranger in a strange land.

I'm gonna say Plarom. Perhaps cheerfulness has nothing to do with kindness, but this boy is enthusiastic about EVERYTHING, even if its not his problem. He's always been willing to lend an ear and never complains about the obscene number of complaints he listens to. If he thinks there is anything wrong, he will do his utmost to help fix it.

Bartender, I'll have one more.

Dubble, that guy has only ever snapped at one person, and that's LeHah. And let's be fair, LeHah looks for that reaction. Other than that, he's a bloody cartoon.

I don't regularly talk to very many people from GFF, but out of those I actually pay any attention to whatsoever, The Wise Vivi and Alice come to mind for this award. I've never seen Vivi get worked up over anything at all, really, unless he's defending someone else, and he always tries to give the best advice he can. And Alice seems to put a lot of thought into things she says BEFORE saying them, unlike a lot of people on these boards, and seems to always consider how what she says will affect others.

I nominate Lord Styphon for his neverending kindness and not banning me yet. He's a lot like Chuck Norris in that we're "just a list of animals Chuck Norris allows to live." and for being on this list, I thank him endlessly.

Maybe this is weird but fuck it, I'll nominate Sassafrass for this. There are individual posts that make her eligible (such as this one), but in general she seems to be a person that will tell you what she thinks without any bullshit. She may not be "kind", but neither is the truth.

I nominate AcerBandit.

The guy just exudes happiness and friendship. Like a bright, smiling, fluffy gas cloud of nitrous oxide!
