Award for Best Community Event of the Year.
Gamingforce is more than just a message board, it's a community. Not a particularly friendly or welcoming one according to Sass but a community none the less. Part of the reason we've ended up such a tight knit bunch is the plethora of community events that run throughout the year here. Practically every week sees a different av and sig chain, there are forum games and contests and now we also see regular meet ups around the world.
The question is, which has been the very best community event of the last year? Ideally I'd suggest you vote for the one which you think benefited our sense of community the most although to be fair, nominating the one you enjoyed most is a more realistic expectation. Standard nominations rules apply as detailed in the rules thread.

Ace Combat Era Mk III.
For extremely obvious reasons. But since I have to elaborate, it should be pretty easy. There was no huge stupid dramafest this time, there was no bullshit that anyone could really have an objection to (unless you're a retard like RAB or something, and can't read a list.), and it was larger and more well organized than before. It was a pretty good success, all things considered. ![]() [ Major Orbert Jager ]

Merv's SimCity 4 Community Project.
I don't often participate in community events, but I entered this one because Merv said I should even though I absolutely sucked in SC4. Needless to say, the project not only helped me get better at the game (I once hated SC4), and the whole event was great in itself. It was fun seeing our region grow as the cities grew larger and denser as the weeks went by. It's too bad it was abandoned once school came up, but I'd definitely would like to restart the project someday. Great job, Merv. DN Theme postponed until I download the rest of the eps. I actually really enjoyed the CD Swap despite all the drama, and despite getting shafted. It was fun putting together my CD, crafting it carefully, having everyone who'd give it a listen give me some feedback, and overall just putting a lot of effort into something that ultimately was going to a complete stranger. It was an interesting, fun experience that gets my nomination.

The GFF Community Album idea thoroughly impressed me and left me with a broader range of songs I could appreciate. I highly enjoyed listening to our collective tastes and it really was a definitive community event plain and simple.
Since that's been nominated already, my choice goes towards Final Fantasy VI week. It's one of those weeks that lingers around awhile long after ending since it's just so awesome and nostalgic! Spoiler:

Best VGM Song Contest. Correct me if I'm wrong but it still attracts more participants than any other event, with even more people getting involved this year (and a richer field of nominations). The drama/campaigning that goes on keeps it interesting until the end, and with many a clash of personalities you end up with some lively back and forths in a lot of the matchups.
Not to hate on SAUS too much - I discovered a lot of new music through that event - but in comparison it petered out into nothingness towards the end. People here are just a lot more dedicated to their VGM. So that's it. Best VGM Contest. Still the centrepiece of the Gamingforce calender. |

Hands down nomination for Capo's RGB Avatar Chain. I have to say, the participation, and the ease in which one could participate made for an enjoyable event, and the pretty rainbow in the avatar column of that thread made reading the main thread exciting.
