Genshiken 2: The show that not even the dreaded evil of Moe can defeat returns!!
What? There hasn't been a thread for the best show of this season?
I...I just don't know you guys any more ;_; Genshiken: The Society for the study of modern visual culture 2. Studio: Palm Studio, Genco Episodes: 13 Orig. Air Date October 10, 2007 Genre: Comedy/Slice of Life Following on from the first season and the three OVA episodes that came with the reprehensiable Kujibiki♥Unbalance (and are being packaged that way with the US release of said shite instead of a single volume. Godamnit, Media Blasters, stop it with the shit decisions already, I don't want your goddamn Voltron, I want my GaoGaiGar dubbed awesomely!!) Genshiken 2 is the long awated animated adaptation of the second half of the nine volume series of the orgional Genshiken manga. Anyway, I'm of the oppinion that if you don't know what Genshiken realy is that watching this will leave you horribly confused and that you realy should "Buy" the "DVD Box set" from "Media Blasters" if you catch my drift (Beyond the visual anology of what Misty would sound if she had giant bonanzas, the dub is no great shakes) so I won't bore people with the details of the story beyond the idea of that this show is about a small time collage anime/game/manga club and thier verious (concevable in real life) missadventures. But I digress, you have to see this OP:
And the ED
Torrents Currently, only one group is subbing Genshiken 2 (and yet 4 groups are doing Clannad? WTF, Mate?) is the ever infamous Dattebayo subs (And, true to form, they anouced G2 as a replacment show for Bleach and caused thier brand of shitstomery) Episode 1: [DB] Episode 2: [DB] Episode 3: [DB] Episode 4: [DB] Episode 5: [DB] Episode 6: [DB] Episode 7: [DB] Episode 8: [DB] All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed.

Is there even a fansub of the last Genshiken OAV episode (Ep 15)?
Also, are there even fansubs of the last 3 Kujibiki Heart Unbalance episodes? I wouldn't want to start Genshiken 2 without seeing the last "official" episode of the first series. |

You can get episode 15 from gg Fansubs.

So far I like the way it's continuing everything after the OVA (AKA 13-15). I can live with both the OP (AWESOME) and ED theme since they both look just as good as season 1's. Just that I noticed the animation was a little different in both episode 1 and 2. Not that it bothers me at all since it's Genshiken ;p. What I'm going to miss is the reference and cameos of certain fighting games which involved Kohsaka a few times but now he looks like the 5th wheel with Tanaka being the old muffler ready to blow =/. Overall, It still maintains the mood that I expected from season 1.
For those who never saw OVA 3 (EP 15) I uploaded through sendspace since some people here don't believe in torrents. Genshiken ep 15 |

It's really, really great so far, it's like seeing old friends again. Especially the first episode gave me that vibe since it went on for so long with the various members dropping in a few at a time. And you just gotta love that "next episode" rant at the end of the first episode, classic stuff.
I'm a tiny bit disappointed that the OP didn't maintain the "daily life" theme of the other OPs but it's a great OP in its own way so I can't complain too much. Also, I miss the custom episode-related EDs. Traditions are traditional! ![]() |

Ep 3 came out a few days ago but I was too busy with Uni stuff (ironicly including my own anime club) to see it.
It is made of Win and Trap, that is all. All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed. |

Ep five? We're at ep 4.
Anyway, DB's qality hasn't been too bad, realy. All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed. |

To be fair though, Naruto deserves to be subbed shittily, in keeping with the quality of the show.
![]() I looooved the Etrian Odyssey reference, I wasn't even paying attention and suddenly the music just drilled into my ear and I was like "what the hell that is AWESOME!", especially considering I didn't even really notice they were holding DS lites, total shock! The only thing I didn't like about them playing Etrian Odyssey is that they seemed to be playing multiplayer, which suggests to me that they haven't actually played the game. I don't know, it irks me a little when they reference something they don't actually understand. Also the way they're playing really suggests a head-to-head puzzle game. Anyway it was an awesome episode, but the preview for the next one had me going "noooooooooooooooo". D: |
|
Yeah. That preview threw me the fuck off. My guess is :
Spoiler:
I never read the manga but this month's the 9th and last volume. Hopefully, vol 1-8 aren't hard to find so I'll try to pick them up and maybe a poster in rightstuff.com. I figured, a good show deserves to be praised a little more >=p. |
|
Episode 5
Spoiler:
But alas, the comedy wasn't so bad outside of her mind but a more sexy version of Saki was probably the best part in the episode. Yeah. Overall an ok episode but definately forgettable too.. >=p The next preview put a smile to my face at least. |

Episode 5 -
*pause* ... Spoiler:
Spoiler:
Spoiler:
To come to the point: Nice Episode! |
|
Episode 6. I can't tell if DB are being morons for saying that Sasahara's repeat moan quote was a Yotsubato refrence.
Episode 5: I don't know wether or not to be scared that the voice of the braves is doing yoai scenes. All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed. |
