So far I have been disappointed, but given that there has only been 1 OVA released, more has yet to come. I haven't read the manga as well so that may affect my judgement on this as well.

From what I've seen though the animation style is pretty good. I agree that the music from the original is definitely better.

eh i didn't like it at all (first OVA)
its like.. they were trying to make Hellsing cool with the CG and lame one liners and its ALREADY cool without that shit

and the music sucked balls

hopefully the next one goes into what happened after episode 13 of the real series =/

To my knowledge it wont because this series is supposed to follow the manga a whole lot closer than the previous anime (the whole incognito shit doesnt exist in the manga) and is even being supervised by the mangaka himself.

For people who have not read the manga, please read it! It will make you understand the OVA much more better then just watching the TV series. Like I said, and Tokubetsu just said, everything that happened with Incognito was Gonzo's doing and not part of the true series. So this OVA, that will be following the manga all the way to the end, will not have anything to do with the TV series. Which means, NO POST-INCOGNETO STORYLINE. This isn't a sequel people, get over it.

Not to mention that the TV series also had CGI AND one liners. Or are you forgetting?

Sorry if I'm sounding a little ticked, I'm not. I'm just trying to make a point to people that seem to be missing the whole just of the new series.....

Anyone know where I can get the manga?

Animation wise, I like the OVA a lot better. It looks a lot more cleaner than the TV series. However, I do miss the color contrast they did on the TV series. Those looked real nice.

And ya, I must say the music on the OVA is lacking compared to the TV series.

I'm looking forward to the next episode. Any idea on the date of release?

I'm mostly waiting for the OVA to get past where the TV broke away from the manga...because personally, I think the original TV series did a fabulous job with that part of the storyline (this might have something to do with the fact that I just re-watched the entire TV series last night, with my roommate).

At the moment I'm really missing the TV's soundtrack, and the drawing of the teeth! That may seem like a silly thing to be irritated about (especially since the OVA is doing more of the 'shark-tooth' style that is actually in the comics), but I really loved seeing Alucard grin in the TV show. He has some of the best vampire choppers I've seen in anime, aside from Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

I'm downloading the first episode now, but it should be noted... Up until about 3 weeks ago, I had NEVER seen Hellsing.

Yes... That's right... Sue me...

I've been hanging out with some friends in Minessotta all weekend and we downloaded the 13 episodes from the TV series and watched them all back to back.

Everyone liked them OK, but I was just awed by the animation and story. It's also refreshingly good to see a shockingly gory series with so much flair. Can't wait until this is done downloading.

That's okay. My roomie wasn't even interested in it until she watched AMV Hell. Then I kept dropping hints (and telling her Crispin Freeman is wonderful as Alucard's VA in English).

You really, really should read the manga, though. It's far better than the original TV, and the OVA doesn't really do the art justice. Some people dislike Kohta Hirano's style, but I think it fits the storyline wonderfully.

Well... Since watching the series I also downloaded a couple manga scans and skimmed through them. I haven't really sat down to read them though, but the artwork is fucking awesome. It's too bad it's only monochromatic though, because I've gotten so used to watching Hellsing in its bloody and gory goodness that it's kind of hard to adapt to the change.

Yay!
I love the color illustrations... there's one specifically that I'd love to have in a higher resolution, but alas, I have no idea where to find it .
Also, Pu-sama on DeviantArt has some kick-ass (and bloody/gory) Hellsing fanart, not to mention awesome Violinist of Hameln fanart as well. I love her.

I just read some of the manga. God, I hope the OVA doesn't follow the manga. Nazi vampires? Wow. Hopefully it'll be like the series where it goes away from the manga.
Are you strong?
