Only a few minutes into episode 5 and I had to pause a bit to read all the text flying across the screen, all of which was essential to the plot.
Wikipedia's entry for Haruhi does something along those lines and can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzumiya_Haruhi_no_Yuuutsu

As far as the 5th episode goes, that was a lot of plot exposition which seemed crammed in as though the writers wanted to get that part over with. Nothing of note really happens (except for the usual Mikuru abuse), but I'm hoping that since the exposition has been taken care of, it will leave more room for insanity and hilarity in the next couple episodes.

I finally got to seeing this anime. At first, I actually thought the first episode was going to be the entire anime style, or just some mix up. Then the second one clarified my thoughts. As well as the ending credits for episode 1. But Episode 1 was alot Excel Saga-ish. The random craziness with a narrator to follow. But this anime seriously looks fun to watch so far. The characters are very easy to get along with without all that serious drama junk of, "oh, I get to spend everyday after school with a hot girl! SCORE." It's more of a mature connection being made between the main male character and the main female character(s).

See what you think from episode 2 onwards. That's where the fun begins, although episode 1 was hilarious in its own right.

This series is certainly one of its kind, although I have to say I'm in the minority of not liking the first episode. I didn't really find it very funny, although it did captivate me enough to bother downloading episode two and onwards (as I knew those wouldn't be like the first).

I don't regret following through with it since I do enjoy the series. I'm interested in knowing how they'll wrap it up since there's supposedly a lot of material from the light novels (they're still being written, right?). I don't believe they've had any official word on a second season, have they?
Will they!?

Episode six is rather normal in comparison to all the Mikuru abuse and supernatural events.
It also seems like a two-parter, but going with the non-chronological flow, the next episode doesn't have anything to do with it!

That's what I found hilarious as Kyon stated in the episode preview of what! No ending???! I just LOL'd right there and then. I guess we'll have to wait, which is nice since it just makes you want to get it over with sooner, rather than if they were to show the conclusion next episode.

LOL! Was Haruhi cross? I really didn't bother to tell. They seemed to lack the full-blown dancing enthusiasm + expresionless faces in the real ED, but the last 10 seconds were funny anyways.

Looks like Episode 07 had crammed more stuff to understand in a short time, and for once, complex info had no simplified explanation after it! You were left to understand it yourself or pause and whip out your thesaurus.
The highlight was the battle with the cave cricket, even though it was short. More Yuki craziness akin to the baseball ep.

One wquestion. How come first epi was about the laser beam? Which had nothing to do with events right now? Anyways, hows new epis? I haven't caught on since epi 5.

Heh. I still gotta finish episode 2 lol. But since 7 episodes are out so far, are they bad or good ? I've been reading news on how the OP and ED theme is popular not that great to me... nowadays.

Ugh. Props for the cosplay but not much else. I'm afraid nothing beats the Gundam version ;_;

Episode 1 is supposed to be a video that the SOS Brigade films, hence the 'bad acting' and general cheesiness. Pretty hilarious stuff, but it can be pretty confusing as well. Episode 2+ is the "actual" plot.

If you liked what you've seen so far, then you'll like the rest of the series. If you've thought it was dull or not funny, then chances are good you'll never like it.

Also, the OP and ED are sex.

I had a lot of fun watching the first episode. I haven't belived so far that a parody series could be fun (especially because I didn't like Excel Saga).

I'll keep watching this series for sure.

EDIT:
After watching the second episode I realised it isn't a parody anime. But I'm glad because I liked this 2nd episode much more than the first.
About the songs, I liked the OP more than the ED, unlike most people, but surely they are both good.
Episode 2 spoiler
Spoiler:
I really enjoyed the part when Kyon was try to see some sense in creating a nameless club, with a cute and big breated mascot.

The dude almost falls over, hilarious.

Also, the homemade "sci-fi" movie depicted in the first episode is likely one of Suzumiya-san's crazy ideas of not finding any mysteries to solve, so why not make one up? Even better yet, why not make a movie about it! SOS BRIDAGE TO THE RESCUE!

I'm in episode 6 now, and so far it's great. It gets more interesting and funnier by each episode I watch.

Episode 6
Spoiler:
I wonder how things will go now that the manor of the house was killed and we'll probably begin with a plot on the show.
I wonder if were aliens, espers or whatever that killed the guy ...

In my spare time (not much these days) I made a wallpaper of Asahina-san.
Next time I plan to make one of Suzumiya.

I hope you like it.
