Mushishi

Tired of giant mechas shooting tons of missiles ? Tired of annoying youngsters with superpowers trying to get more and more powerful ? Tired of aliens invading earth for the 1463th time ? Tired of endless school love affairs ?

Well. This anime is for you.

"They are neither plants nor animals. They differ from other forms of life such as the micro-organisms and the fungi. Instead they resemble the primeval body of life and are generally known as "Mushi". Their existence and appearance are unknown to many and only a limited number of humans are aware of them. Ginko is a "Mushi-shi" who travels around to investigate and find out more about the "Mushi". In the process, he also lends a helping hand to people who face problems with supernatural occurances which may be related to the "Mushi". "(Source : ANN)

This anime is pure poetry. It's quite simple, either you fall asleep, either you love. A fantastic ode to nature, the most peaceful anime you can found anywhere. Wonderful music and flawless animation. I felt in love with this series since the first episode. Strongly advised to watch it after a rough day.

I haven't seen many episodes, but the first few were very good, especially the one about the silent snow village. The show reminds me of Kino's Travels a lot.

Could this be classified as "slice of life" + "supernatural", or is it one of those shows you just have to watch ?

Well, I'm happy that C1's continued with their subbing after that long hiatus. Looking interested in seeing what lessons could be learned through the next few episodes. I do wonder how everything's going to conclude and whether Ginkgo will suffer the same fate that his teacher suffered.

I had randomly decided to check this anime out one night (thanks to having heard of the manga), and I was sucked right in. Such a high quality anime, all around~~ *_*. I'm really glad that the show is going to get the full 26 episode season. Quite a few good series seem to be getting fewer episodes than the 'norm', and it's a relief that Mushishi will not be one of them ^^~

I've been getting this off of #animeforever and they have done a great job with the translation/subtitles. However, it seems as if they stopped working on the series ever since episode 15 and that was back in May.

I checked animesuki.com and C1 seems to be the only sub-group that is up to date. I'm hesitant to download any of their stuff since I've had a few problems with some of their earlier projects. Before I go on a leeching spree, has anyone downloaded the recent episodes from C1 and are satisfied with their work?

Thanks.

Wow. I'm definately getting this on DVD when it's released. It's a nice chage of pace from all the generic animes Cobras mentioned in the beginning.

You know, I've lost interest in anime recently, but I think this series is going to spark my interest again. Glad to know there are such gems still being produced.

Too bad I've been watching all the episodes off www.youtube.com. I guess I can always wait for the DVD release, but I have a feeling this anime is geared more towards the niche audience, so the series being imported to DVD might be slim. Is there any place I get get high quality videose?

I love this anime, especially the mood it gives off. Sometimes lighthearted and airy, sometimes downright creepy. Beautiful scenaries as well. It's just a treat to the eyes.

I really want to know what happened to Ginko...

The C1 fansubs are alright. The font is easy to read and there aren't many mistakes. Maybe you could check out those youtube links to judge?

Edit: Spelling.

This anime is impressive.
I'd say it's one of the best anime that came out recently.
I agree with what paranoidsponge said. The mood it gives off may go from lighthearted serenity to downright creepy.

I was putting off watching the first episode because I wanted to get caught up with some other series. Now that I am caught up I just watched the first episode. Wow. Quite impressive for a first episode. I liked the main character right away which is something that doesn't normally happen for me. I really hope subsequent episodes keep up the interesting story theme and have a lot more likable characters. I'm off to download the whole series now.

Wow Cobra, I can't thank you enough for bringing this series to my attention. I've just seen the first two episodes and the only thing that comes to mind is "beautiful." Not only is the artwork and animation beautiful, but the concept of the show as a whole. Some kind of strange tranquility comes over me when I'm watching it.

Anyways, thanks again. It would have been a shame had I overlooked this.

You're very welcome. ^^

Ergo Proxy, Noein, Mushishi, The Melancholy of, GITS SSS, and maybe the upcoming Prod IG release "CHEVALIER d'EON"... I think the quality animes are back this year. At last.

This is the first anime series I want to purchase. I've tried looking on Google, but most of them are from Ebay or are English/Chinese subs.

So is there no official release of this series on DVD?

Unfortunately that's correct, there isn't an official release yet TT~ I'm hoping that with the recent licensing of the manga, the anime won't be too far behind, though *_*~

Holy shit, that looks gay. Well, anyway at least it's Mushishi so hopefully they can pull off a good story and some nice music.
