What anime do you own on DVD??
i was wondering what kind of anime gamingforce forums members currently own.
I bet that there must be many titles that is all the video library. ![]() YOU ARE ... MYSTERIOUS HERO! (Squall Leonhart from FFVIII [ff8]) Take this quiz! Quizilla | Join | Make a Quiz | More Quizzes | Grab Code ![]() |
Isn't there some sort of a rule against list entries? I'm pretty sure there is. Myself, my collection is pretty limited. I'm not an anime fan by any stretch, I think a lot of it is crap, actually. But I have picked up a few gems over the years. The Record of Lodoss War complete set, because I watched it when I was young and absolutely loved it. The little animated shorts at the end kill me. I've also got all of Trigun, because it's simply fantastic. I think the next set I bought was Kenshin and Samurai X because a friend of mine introduced me to it, and I fell in love with the character. It was just so very enjoyable. I then bought three movies: Darkside Blues, Vampire Hunter D, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. I enjoy all of these, so it led to a purchase of Akira. Finally, I wound up with Last Exile because it reminded me of a fantasy novel I truly adore. I don't count any of my Miyazaki on this list, as I think they're more of kids movies than serious anime. |

I have a really sucky (and possibly embarrassing) anime DVD collection compared to you guys, but I'm planning on getting more stuff sometime in the future. My list currently includes the Tournament saga, the last three DB movies in a boxset, and the first volume of GT for my DB stuff, a whole bunch of YGO volume DVDs along with the movie, the CB movie, Wolf's Rain volume 1 box set (although I'm going to give it to someone so I can get the WR Complete Collection at Amazon), and FFVII AC.
Yup, that's it. Like I said, it isn't a long list. I don't usually get many anime DVDs as they're pretty pricy compared to other DVDs. Update: Oh, add the Naruto boxset to my collection too. DN Theme postponed until I download the rest of the eps. My Backloggery

everybody has to start out some where ![]() |
The first anime DVD that i bought wasRurouni Kenshin Vol.1 i really enjoyed it. Then i bought all the Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 Vol. 1-6used, they were a good deal i bought like 50 bucks i think, like 3 or 4 years ago. Then i bought a botleg copy of Cowboy Bebopin 3 discs which sux, ill buy the remix edition soon. Rurouni KenshinI got season 1 and 3 bootleg edition, which were awful, the image was sucky Saint Seiya 4 movie in 1 bootleg too. Spirited awayi found it in a store at 3 bucks! This year i got Neon Genesis Evangelion: Platinum Thinpak and NGE:2 movies packexcellent recommended to all Samurai X Directors Cut Collectioni always wanted to have this, its a masterpiece. Final Fantasy Unlimited Thinpacki wondered if the series was good and 28 bucks for the boxset was a good deal. Macross Vol. 1 -3 i always wanted to own this and in excellent presentation, video and audio. Macross Plus no comments, just buy(i never actually saw it before i bought it) Macross 2to complete the collection!(i kinda like it, it was the first Macross release i watched(and robotech of course) years ago. Saint Seiya Collection 1 and 2 Legacy of my childhod, i love this series, and i had to buy it at 28 each collection its a excellente deal, i just hope ADV will continue releasing the rest of episodes soon. Rurouni Kenshin economy box set 1,2,3, i sold my bootleged DVDs and obtained the media blasters edition which i like but there are some issue(like a problem 2 episodes in the 7th disc of season 3 box) Ghost in the shell should i explain myself? collector edition, marvelous movie, 17 bucks GitS: Stand Alone Complex Vol. 1-6 standart 7 special edition(tin case)I watched the entire TV series in fansubs releases, i had to buy its plain awesome(im looking forward for season 2!!) Eureka 7 vol.1 special edition excellent series, im waitig for the rest of the DVDs Tenchi muyo: Tenchi foreveri dont know who is the owner of this movie, and i havent even watch it. Final Fantasy 7 Advent children come on!!! ![]() YOU ARE ... MYSTERIOUS HERO! (Squall Leonhart from FFVIII [ff8]) Take this quiz! Quizilla | Join | Make a Quiz | More Quizzes | Grab Code ![]() |
Here's mine. Patlabor New Files OVA - I got this at the 2006 otafest for about $33. It was a bit expensive, but I didn't watch the first 8 episodes, so it was either now or later. I didn't mind the extra cost though. Patlabor 1 & 2 - Manga Entertainment release. Okay guys c'mon, this release wasn't that bad now was it? The audio I think is much better than the newly released Honneamise Patlabor LEs, but there's some significant skipping in the 2nd movie where Gotoh get's pissed. Patlabor 1 & 2 - Honneamise Limited Edition. For like $65 for 1 and $75 for #2,this was a pretty hefty price to pay, but if you love Patlabor like Q and I and Boo and maybe a few others here, then I think it's worth it for the archives. God that book is awesome. Perfect Blue - I got this at HMV for the 2 for $30 deal. I could include the Hong Kong release of Akira, with the MOST horrid of subtitles EVER, some of them are absolutely dick poor that you know Megaliths enjoyed doing the subwork. Examples include "He get gun!" during the scene where Roy picks up a gun and "No shoot" when the guards are trying to prevent Tetsuo from escaping. ANY OTHER release is better than this $25 piece of crap. To make it worse, you've got to be the worlds fastest reader as the subs will only be on the screen for no longer than 0.025 seconds. Yup. I want to burn that in the fire. I also got scammed on paying like $40 for a "Masumune Shirow" collection which was just some "awesome" job of squishing Dominion Tank Police, Black Magic M-66, Appleseed, GITS the Movie, and some other crap, onto 2 DVDs. Worst anime purchase ever. DTP wasn't to be found on any of the discs, GITS doesn't even end properly, but instead makes my DVD skip and freakout, and the others look like VCD crap. Megalith is laughing. I like how I got suckered so bad. ;____; So there, the most pitiful anime "collection" on GFF. Why lie. ![]() - What we all do best -

I did this in my journal earlier, but I might as well put my collection here.
![]() Left to right: Irresponsible Captain Tylor TV series box Serial Experiments Lain box Patlabor movies Limited Collector's Editions 1 and 2 Patlabor original series box Patlabor TV series box 1 (turned around cause the discs are on loan right now and the box only holds my Seiken Densetsu 2 guide book for now) ![]() Patlabor TV series box 1 again Patlabor TV series box 2 Patlabor TV series first DVD (bought it before CPM released boxes) Manga Video's releases of Patlabor movies Ghost in the Shell Ninja Scroll (god damn 4:3 censored ripoff >:() Bastard!! (complete collection) Moldiver (complete) All-Purpose Cultural Catgirl Nuku Nuku (complete) Laputa - Castle in the Sky (Japanese R2 release) Porco Rosso (ditto) Totoro (R3 release) Spirited Away (Finnish release) Spirited Away (R4 release) Cowboy Bebop movie Catnapped! ![]() And the final discs on my shelf, Wonderful Days (Finnish release), Otaku no Video, Tokio Private Police (unfortunately not mine) and yes, that's a chinese release of Shuusaku. I have porn on my shelf. I bought it cause it was cheap and I've kept this release around because the subtitles translate the title in the beginning as "Shit.", which is of course awesome. As for the ones not on my shelf (lack of space), ![]() FLCL 1-3 Evangelion 1-8 End of Eva movie Death & Rebirth movie Plus two discs of Ranma, which I got as a gift from a friend of mine in the states. I don't even follow Ranma anime (I have 15 volumes of the manga), but these were quite funny. Not pictured here would be.. my Steamboy double DVD, which is on loan at my aunt's and the new Appleseed DVD which happens to be downstairs. Oh, and my Finnish release of Howl's Moving Castle (also downstairs). Other than those, I think that's every anime DVD I have. |

Let's see what we got here...
Akira: Signature Series - Cheap version of the new Akira that Pioneer released a some years ago. By the time I started buying DVDs (I had originally bought this on VHS back when this new version just came out, but I wanted to upgrade to DVD), I knew I wouldn't be able to find that Special Collector's Edition Tin, so I just settled for this that I found at Wal-Mart for $7.50. I haven't even watched it yet, but I don't expect it to be that much different. Bubblegum Crisis 2040: Essential Anime Collection Edition Vol. 1 - I've always been interested in seeing this show, and I saw this for $20, so I picked it up. Problem is, I've been spoiled by boxsets, so instead of watching it I figured I would wait until I got the other two volumes and then watch them all at the same time. But, I haven't been able to find the other two volumes in stores, which is why I have yet to watch this one. Cowboy Bebop: The Movie - Watched the show on Adult Swim, so I bought the movie once it came out here. I've only watched it once since I bought it, though (don't get me wrong, I like it, I'm just not a movie person). Gantz Vol. 1-10 - This is one of only two series that I have bought and completed volume by volume. Great show, I just need to finish watching the last volume. Ghost in the Shell: Special Edition - My favorite movie of all time (anime or live action). I've bought this movie on VHS, regular DVD (which I sold), and now this version. I've seen this movie plenty of times, but it never gets old. Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence - Not as good as the first, but still pretty good nonetheless (I haven't watched this one nearly as much as the first one, though). I bought it on the first day it came out, so I had one of those versions with the closed captioning subtitles that I had to mail-in to get the correct version. Grave of the Fireflies - Great movie that I found for cheap at Target one day. I've only watched it once, though (it was so sad I don't know if I can watch it again). Gungrave Vol. 1-7 - This is one of my most favorite anime series of all time. I bought Vol. 1 on a whim one day, and then I bought the rest that were out at the time. After that, I bought the rest as they came out. I've only watched the whole series once, but I definitely plan to rewatch it again sometime soon. Jin-Roh - The Wolf Brigade: Special Edition - I bought this when they rereleased it last year for $20, though I had been wanting to see it since it first came out. It was an alright movie, though I had probably overhyped it in my mind as it being this great masterpiece before I had even seen it, which led to me being somewhat disappointed by it when I finally saw it. Kaleido Star: Amazing Collection - This show is amazing. I had first watched it on The Anime Network on Demand, but they had stopped showing it after about six episodes. I wanted to see more though, so I bought this sometime later for $50. Definitely one of my best anime purchases ever. Magic Knight Rayearth: TV Series Season One Boxset - I've always wanted to see this show, and I found this for $30, so I bought it. I still haven't got around to watching it, though. Najica - Blitz Tactics: Complete Collection - Random purchase I made that turned out to be pretty good. It's nowhere near the best series ever, but it was still fun to watch. Neon Genesis Evangelion: Platinum Collection - I've already bought this show on on VHS (just one volume) and during the original DVD run (2 volumes), so it's about time that I could cheaply get the entire series. I haven't watched any of the platinum bersions of the episodes, though. Perfect Blue - Another movie I've been wanting to see for a while, but just now got around to buying. Still haven't seen it yet though. (Sup Spat) Princess Mononoke - Great movie I bought for $15 at Target a couple of years ago. I've watched it a couple of times. Ninja Scroll: 10th Anniversary Edition - I mainly just bought it as part of my efforts to upgrade my anime VHS tapes to DVD. I enjoy the movie, but I don't like it as much as most of the other anime movies I've seen. I've yet to watch this DVD version, though. Ninja Scroll - The Series: Complete Collection - Found it for $35, so I decided to pick it up. Still haven't watched it, though. Noir: Complete Collection - It seemed like a great series, and I liked the episode of it that I downloaded a couple of years back, so I went ahead and bought this for $90. Not a smart thing to do. I like it, but it's really hard for me to enjoy it. I've only been able to get to epispde 7 sp far, because I just can't bring myself to watch it most of the time. Rurouni Kenshin: TV Series Season One Boxset - I loved the first OAV, so of course I wanted to see the series. I had bought one of the volumes on VHS back in the day, and I saw some of the episodes on Cartoon Network, but this was my first oppurtunity to really sit down and the series. I still plan to get season 2 one day, but I'm undecided on getting season 3. Samurai X: Director's Cut Collection - I had bought the first OAV on VHS years ago, so as part of my efforts to upgrade all my anime VHS tapes to DVD, I bought this collection. Still haven't seen the second OAV though, as I'm waiting to finish the series first (well, at least season up to season 2). Those Who Hunt Elves: Season 1 & 2 Complete Collection - Read about this series some years ago in Animerica, and it seemed pretty interesting. I finally got around to watching it once this set was released, and it was pretty good (read my review in the recommendations thread). Tokyo Babylon - I only bought it because it was cheap ($10) and CLAMP made it (I like most of their stuff that I've seen). I still haven't watched it, though. Vampire Hunter D - Another VHS-to-DVD transfer. I love the movie (it was the first Anime I ever bought on VHS), but I haven't watched the DVD yet. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust - I loved the first movie, so of course I bought the sequel. Still haven't watched it, though (there's a lot more of these types of DVDs that I than I thought). Yu Yu Hakusho: The Movie - I like the TV series, so I bought this when I found it for $15 at Target. I still haven't got around to watching it though, just as I haven't finished watching the TV series (I still have some episodes on tape). Zone of the Enders: Complete Collection - I absolutely love all the games, so buying this set was a no brainer. I already had and watched the OAV (I still have the original DVD version), but I haven't watched the series yet. ![]() Flashpoint
