Welcome to the Gamingforce Interactive Forums.
GFF is a hellhole full of elitists who chat about everything EXCEPT games. We have a team of dedicated moderators who will ban your ass on the slightest provocation, constant member-organized activities that you are not allowed to participate in, and plenty of custom features, including our unique journal system where you can post entries that will be completely ignored. If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ or our GFWiki. You will have to register before you can post. Although membership is completely free (and gets rid of the pesky advertisement unit underneath this message) we do not recommend that you sign up, because you will get kicked in the nuts repeatedly.

Miles is presently setting to work on the subforums. Only administrators can create new partitions. Moderators lack this privelege.

I say start it Friday. People tend to have more free time on weekends and it'd be nice to begin strong while people have a moment to participate. It'll appear as though folks are involved and may entice others to follow suit.

QUESTION! Two actually. Will the brackets be put up in a staggered manner as was done in SAUS? Like, instead of all of A at once, the first pairings of A to H are put up? I'm guessing no if multiple thread makers are being employed.

Also, are we going to see a torrent at all, and if so, will it be up and active before the start of the contest?

Actually, delaying the contest start for a few days while we get a torrent running might be a REALLY GOOD IDEA in general. Not everyone only downloads songs from the threads/only the ones they like, Orion. Not bitching at you, just reminding.

How much time will be given to vote on first-round matchups? Me personally, I have a five-day vacation this week, weekend trip to relatives for Christmas the following weekend. Considering it's the holiday season and a lot of people are traveling, my case is probably not an isolated one.

So, a week for voting?

I called for a torrentmaking volunteer awhile back; I have no idea how to do it, and it might not even be possible on OS X. Anyone know of a good FAQ on the subject?

As for voting, it'll be just like the BSC and BCC--each bracket will go up as a whole, slightly staggered against the others by two days. The SAUS method of doing the brackets was, frankly, weird and scary.

I sent you some info on creating a torrent; hopefully that will prove helpful.

Also, it would be nice to have as few thread starters as possible. The more people you have creating threads, the better the chances of someone not being responsible with starting theirs on time or messing up the formatting (which should be standardized, for the most part). I realize this means more work for the few who do create threads, but it would be nice.

Let's try this torrent thing then! I'll leave my computer on and seed for the next few days; let me know if there are any problems.

Torrent file: Send big files the easy way. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!

Not working for me. Maybe try starting a new torrent with some more trackers?

Terrific. Sorry about the slow speeds; it should perk up once others start seeding.

Looks like we're go for launch this Friday if the subforum is up, with Monday as the fallback date!

If this download speed keeps up, I'm done downloading in a few hours.
Going to seed for as long as I can.

Just finished the download, but strangely neither of the files seems to work. I can open them with Winamp but there is no music at all.

[Edit] The non-mp3 files in the Extra folder are working though.

Yep, same here. None of the mp3 nominations seem to be working in any music player I throw at it.

Looking at the files in a waveform editor it seems that they have been completely silenced:
Spoiler:
So we all have 1.47 GB of nothing. How does this happen?

That really doesn't make any sense at all. Of course, I'm at work at the moment, so I can't check it out until later, but the original files played just fine when I tested them after MP3gaining.

Best not get the torrent until the problem's resolved, then.

Dude, you mp3gained them? For real? While I'm not going to speak for the folks that do actual albums, I highly doubt that all the stuff on OCR and related stuff has been as aggressively compressed as the mainstream stuff that spawned mp3gain in the first place.

There wasn't really much difference between the originals and the gained versions; I just did it as a matter of course, just like in SotW.

In other news, I found out what the problem was. It seems that the copy of the files that I had uploaded to my school server was somehow corrupted into silence; I have restored from my backup and will post a new torrent and re-upload the files tonight.
