It's a new feature, because apparently some people were complaining that they don't see enough moderating.
Cyborg seadog, tell me what you dream of

What's the point in deleting posts in the first place if they're just going to be replaced with massive MIND THE GAP PLEASE signs that are twice as obnoxious as the original spam in the first place?
Or maybe it's a big community binding exercise in guessing what the offending posts included. Why not bring the deleted posts forum back? |
|
Yea. I was just wondering why my Alabama Man South Park submission in the Youtube thread was deleted. Apparently it wasn't "Epic Lolz", according to Crash Landon, which really has absolutely nothing to do with the point of the thread anyways.
I can understand deleting spam but whats the fucking point of deleting posts to fill a purported 'deletion quota'? Does anyone actually believe that deleting things makes for competent moderation?
...

Otherwise, the person's post is deleted, and they're none the wiser. I wonder what this would show in their posting history? |
|
I thought the idea of deleting posts was that the posts being deleted some way interrupt otherwise smooth and free flowing discussion. Isn't that what warrants a post being deleted? Well big gaps just do that even more.
Embittered people who wish to pretend they're ignoring somebody by constantly reminding themselves that they're ignoring somebody are frankly welcome to do that, but I don't see how it relates to the board as a whole, or what the average user has to be faced with through no option of their own. |
|
I suggested it casually because it seems to me that mods are no longer in the habit of telling people in threads to shape up. So, moderation is basically transparent. This may show people how much work mods do, but on the other hand, it also may show how many mods don't like Elixir.
brb searching for deleted posts of mine |
... Yeah well, I can't say I'm surprised. |

Wow, people thought that line saying "This post was deleted" was annoying? God, what's wrong with you? It was like five pixels high.
Plus, I know of at least a few situations where someone posted something, had it deleted, and then posted it again because they thought it was some glitch in the system (or something), and the mod had to come into the thread and say something along the lines of "Now look here Jane-Bob, when we delete your post, there's a reason. And it's not to watch you repost the same Goddamn thing again". In short this was a super good idea. ![]() Maybe it could be a switchable option in the User CP? "Mark deleted posts" or something. Sometimes I get confused if I was reading a thread and a post got deleted, so I would really like for this feature to be there. Don't let those regressive cockmunchers put you down! ![]() |

Can we still have a dynamic listing of users with the most deleted posts, largest ratio of deleted posts in relation to total number of posts, and maybe even most disses received on posts?
Did someone call my name?

Also since we're sort of on the subject can we rename "disses" to "drops" because then it would rhyme
EDIT: Nevermind I like nutty's idea way better. ![]()
