[columnsplit]
Alright so I released this new tag hours ago in Testing and floated the link in chat, but I realized maybe some "official" announcement here might be good.
ANNOUNCING [columnsplit] Use like this: Code:
[columnsplit]left hand stuff (note that content can span multiple lines) || right hand stuff ([colour=blue]BB Code[/colour] is fine too)[/columnsplit]
right hand stuff
(BB Code is fine too) This tag just splits the post into two columns, left-justifying the left one and right-justifying the right. A line containing just "||" separates the content for the columns; anything before it goes on the left, anything after on the right. The main use for this will probably be for signatures, so that you can put your witty quotes and external forum advertisements on the same line as your gaudy sig image and not above or below it, saving valuable vertical space use can use to get the maximum 300 pixels of height like my garbage below. Use this thread in Testing to see more examples of how to use it and just dick around with trying to break it. (there is a bonus tag announcement in this thread, can you find it?) |
|
I want to say the 'bonus tag' is
Code:
[colour][/colour] ![]() ...Unless it's this? Code:
[noparse][/noparse] |
|
Is this limited to 2 columns or can we number off columns as needed?
EDIT:
KOO KOO KACHOO
|
|
If it was just a pure table tag like that, Paco, breakage would be highly amusing.
Fuck awesome though CHz, what are you using, div tags? ![]()

Reporting a possible problem with [columnsplit]
I incorporated it in my sig, but once I go and try to re-edit it, the tags disappear. Instead, the right portion of the signature is encapsulated by [right][/right] tags, while the left portion goes downwards. Useful Stuff

Happened twice with signature already, so yes.
Haven't checked if the same thing happens to ordinary posts. Useful Stuff

Strange.
Preview: ![]() Enhanced Editor: ![]() Plain Editor: ![]() I activate enhanced WYSIWYG editing by default. Perhaps this is the cause. Useful Stuff

I just verified the bug Zerg mentioned. With the WYSIWYG editor enabled, it does in fact break apart a columnsplit like that. The only possible explanation is that the WYSIWYG editor takes the HTML and CSS that the columnsplit generates and backconverts it into BB Code tags, and so the right alignment of the right column causes it to make right tags.
![]() Anyway I meant for the columnsplit tag to be disabled in WYSIWYG in the first place so that one should be fixed now. |

Something to keep in mind with your signatures, guys, is how the popup bbcode works. When the popup bbcode is used in an actual post its instance is contained within just that post. It isn't called later anywhere else in the thread. That wouldn't make sense. At least I think so. I'd like to see how quoting popup bbcode works in regards to that because I might be wrong. ANYHOW! If you put popup bbcode in your signature then when it calls the instance of that popup it will not display in further calls to it i.e. any additional posts you make on that page. It will just add an additional down arrow ( ) next to the very first post you make on the thread that calls the instance. It will do this for every additional post you have on a pa |
