Whoops! Chalk that one up to making 16 threads in 10 minutes. Bloody Hell is 167 and 067 went into the thread.

Fixed.

Guri's Touhou track definitely hit me out of nowhere with some great groove bias. Fairly good dynamics as well, but the key change and rinse/repeat retread at 4:04 was extremely lame, preventing it from being an A grade track. Now it's just a B+.

"Snow Field" is pretty pro, and tefnek always delivers great material, but I'm not as much a fan of that as I am of, say, "Drop and Roll", his Streets of Rage mix.

"Bloody Hell" is pretty good old-school material too; I can see that getting some nods.

"Grim Reaper" is ok, but could be more polished. Game Over has better material on Nintendo Metal, so IMO there was no reason to nom this one.

Cheers.

TouhouDestiny - Gensokyo Millenium ~ History of the Moon
Mysterious and intriguing, although floats around a bit in the middle.

OC ReMix - Snow Field
Pretty nice dance material! Hard choice between this and History of the Moon but Snow Field gets it for being engaging most of the way throughout.

Ailsean Arrange - Bloody Hell
Another remix of Bloody Tears. This one doesn't stand out to me, so rock bias doesn't put it my favour.

Nintendo Metal - The Grim Reaper
Not a fan of the vocals at all.

Ciao.

Snowfield's beats and interludes are just irresistible and it serves to be the easy stand out of this group.

Cheers.

TouhouDestiny is loungy and relaxing. Something I'd vote for if it was a "UT2004 Best Sniper Map BG music" contest.

Snow Field is interesting. Not the kind of rhythm I dig though.

Bloody Hell is nice but still lacks any kind of energy. Too bad ~

The Grim Reaper could have been a nice instrumental. ^_^;

weak pairing is weak

047 TouhouDestiny - Gensokyo Millenium ~ History of the Moon
Techno-groove of a more mysterious flavor than I'm used to. Odd, but I liked it.

082 OC ReMix - Snow Field
Some interesting parts, but not coherent enough for me.

167 Ailsean Arrange - Bloody Hell
Meh. Not my thing.

228 Nintendo Metal - The Grim Reaper
Weird, it's like they turned it into an 80's song. Cheesier than a cheddar factory, but not as bad as one would think despite some pretty badly-written lyrics.

Gotta give it to Lunar History 101.

Cheers.

: 047 TouhouDestiny - Gensokyo Millenium ~ History of the Moon

Gensokyo Millenium ~ History of the Moon has some nice moments, but overall it's too drawn out for my tastes.

Nothing wrong with the vocals of The Grim Reaper. Track is too flat, though. Never really kicks up the energy level at all anywhere, which definitely would've been appreciated by a couple of minutes in.

Same energy problems also plague Bloody Hell, but I can get behind the guitar more than I can get behind TGR's vocals. The guitar and synth solos help.

Easy victory for Snow Field, which is awesome per tefnek's usual. All the standard synthwork and beats you'd expect, but with some flavor guitar thrown into the mix. Spicy.

Ciao.

Be perfectly honest...Bloody Hell was the first fan arrange I heard that had me thinking fan arranges could compete with "official" ones. Yeah, this was way back when (and long before I knew about the whole doujin thing), but the sucker's still impressive. Trounces the Konami Battle Bloody Tears, IMO, and I think that's a fantastic arrange.

Cheers.
