: 041 Ace Combat 4 Shattered Skies — Megalith -Agnus Dei- : 216 Chrono Trigger — Last BattleWell, I can stand Megalith, at least, so that's always a plus. Doesn't stop me from getting bored listening to it, though. ![]() Last Battle... why. The Lavos screms might actually be the best parts of the song. Likewise, it also grows extremely tiresome by the end. However, unlike Megalith, it doesn't have the interlude at the three minute mark to keep things even remotely interesting, so AC4 is our winner. |

This was the easiest matchup so far. Agnus Dei ~Megalith~ easily takes it. It's an epic Ace Combat song with powerful use of chorus versus a boring, repetitive SNES song (one of my least favorite from Chrono Trigger).
My vote: Agnus Dei ~Megalith~ EDIT: Oh, just wanted to add that Agnus Dei is one of those songs that gives you a, "Holy crap; this is it!" feeling. Must be awesome going through the last stage with this in the background.
Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros. Currently playing: Nothing Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more What else do I listen to?

Just because I absolutely adore the Ace Combat Zero OST doesn't mean that I like everything which is related to Ace Combat in general. Ace Combat 4 Shattered Skies - Megalith -Agnus Dei- damages itself due to its sheer length, since being an epic and powerful track doesn't justify such an excessive length in general. Putting that aside, I'll still vote for it, since Chrono Trigger - Last Battle isn't even music. Scream - two minutes of boredom - Scream - some additional boredom. That's all.
1st: Ace Combat 4 Shattered Skies - Megalith -Agnus Dei- 2nd: Chrono Trigger - Last Battle ![]() [SCHWARZE 4 - Sepp Bonhof] ![]() |

Easiest vote so far. Megalith could stand to be a little shorter, but the interlude at 3:00 is the most beautiful thing I've heard in ANY of Ace Combats final mission tracks.
Chrono Trigger is decent, but the Lavos screams make me wanna shove a fork in my ear. Megalith by a landslide. ![]() ~ Maria+Holic ~ Lesbian All Girls School Bullshit Anime #503 |

I was an outspoken proponent of Ace Combat 4 Shattered Skies — Megalith -Agnus Dei- in its previous BSC contests, and it's not hard to see why. It's like they wrapped up all the subtle musical biases that melt me like butter and wrapped them into a single package: a choir, electronic flourishes, stately brass, etc. It'll go down easiest if you're classically-inclined or an orchestra/choir whore.
One of the reasons I've never bought the CT OST is its horrible use of SFX. The Lavos roars in Chrono Trigger — Last Battle don't help the somewhat dull track at all. I have to wonder if someone meant to nominate "World Revolution" and put this down instead, since that tune is what most people seem to mean when the refer to CT's "last battle." meg·a·lith, n. lol, Last Battle. I've always wondered if those three choral chords at 1:20 are supposed to mirror the three chords in "A Presentiment." If so, it's the only saving grace this track has (aside from the bassline which goes from one side to the other).
Anyway, Megalith wins this easily. ![]() ![]() |

Megalith FTW, the rest can die a painful death. One could pity that Chrono Trigger song, oh well, could have been any track. This is not even a competition, this is a one-sided massacre.

It looks like I'm the only one to actually enjoy the Chrono Trigger track...

3rd Time may be a charm for Megalith here...I'm not madly in love with this track, but the melody that continues popping up holds plenty of appeal and the chorus manages to not get on my nerves. Pretty intense music for the final AC4 level as well...I've grown quite used to this, since I could never fly straight through those damn tunnels and kept dying. Not to mention it took me a few tries to FIND the tunnels...
Last Battle...I can appreciate it has a lot of the qualities of the main CT battle theme (including the xylophone-sounding percussion), but it's not too special overall. Very nostalgic though, so both are even in that respect. Honestly, World Revolution would probably wipe the floor with Megalith, but it's the other way around here.
