Round 4 C02 Beach vs. FIGHT!! Version 4 ~ The Final Battle
Please select your favorite track.
116 Plok! - Beach 020 Grandia 2 - FIGHT!! Version 4 ~ The Final Battle ![]() |

Preface: I desperately hope that whichever track wins this specific pairing, obliterates it's opponent in the bracket final. Mmm.
"Beach" is a musical marvel. Considering it's one of the few non-Japanese tracks remaining (>=[ @ Japan) it gets extra-super-special attention from me. My vote goes here, but I won't be perturbed if it loses. I'm a sucker for Iwadare's music, and the music to Grandia is no exception. I really enjoy the frivolity and his music, and some of the melodies he comes up with are truly outstanding. "FIGHT!! Version 4 ~The Final Battle" epitomizes my view on Mr. Iwadare rather well; it's an amazing track which definitely deserves to move on here. It (sadly) won't get my vote here, though, but I assure you: it has my support for future rounds. "Beach" - 9.1/10 (lyk lol) "FIGHT!! Version 4 ~ The Final Battle" - 9/10 |

Finally Beach is going to die, finally!

Fight sure packs a punch. It seems a bit too standard to me, though, and I'm not a huge fan of the sounds used. I like it better when there are breaks between all the driving, bombastic parts. For what it's worth, I liked Fight Ver. 1 (which was in BSC in one of the previous years) a lot more.
Beach is not one of my favorite Follin tunes, but it's still enjoyable and more interesting than Fight here.
Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros. Currently playing: Nothing Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more What else do I listen to? |
Yeah, who wants originality anyhow? MORE MITSUDA PLEASE! |

Wow you guys have no idea how much I hate "Beach". Seriously, what is this, do I need to be on drugs to enjoy this track or what
I don't even give a shit whether FIGHT! is a good track or not (by chance I do know that it's a good track, though), as long as I can vote against this "Beach" faggotfest hymn. ![]() Shushkevich sued the Belarusian Ministry of Labor and Social Security: due to inflation, his retirement pension as a former head of state was the equivalent of one dollar and 80 cents monthly. |

I feel kind of bad to help take down Beach...Kind of. Voting for my nomination (okay, it was like, #10 on my list, but it was still a nomination!), but wouldn't be upset at all to see a comeback.
I'm taking over this town...
I'm screaming for vengenace... I'm shouting at the devil... I'm not dead and I'm not for sale... Ain't lookin' for nothin' but a good time... |

FIGHT!! is pretty much an enjoyable track, I can't complain about it. It's fun and goes very 80s mecha anime on me, which is certainly a good thing.
But Beach is a bit better. The rhythmic shifts are just nuts, and it has one of the best bass parts in the history of game music. |
|
Beach is out of its league, and has been for several rounds. It's a pleasant little song with nothing to say and no melodic hook. Fight is standard Iwadare and features some of his usual poppish stylings, but at least it's energetic and melodic enough for the win here.

Beach is a fine example of how this is so very, very true. |
|
FIGHT!! Ver. 4 is ok, but why do you people insist on voting a song into the final 16 that sounds as if it's been dipped into a fondue pot mixed with purple, pink, and silver glitter?

Hmm, why do I have a feeling if Beach loses here, it could be the number one seed next year...

It most probably cannot, because unless the next guy that's gonna organize the contest is a complete idiot, the top 16 tracks of this years contest won't be allowed next year.

Oh, you're correct. Sorry, I haven't had Maths for quite a few years

My feelings of Fight!! are known (check my nomination list to see). Strong, strong work from Iwadare that retains his classic sound but ratchets up the epicness just enough to lend it sonic gravity.
