* Ken is good but nothing special.
* Edgar & Mash is actually an upgrade of a 5 years old arrangement by Yuu, that I liked very much. More guitars, better sound, I would vote for this new version if there were not the one below. * BB Evolution dates back from 2002 too, and is still stunning even today. Maybe too much arranged, but a true classic. |

"B.B. Evolution" is definitely well done for synth rock, though it does feel a bit dated.
I actually thought "Edgar & Mash" wasn't polished enough. It does have a personalized take on theme, but the arrangement was still nothing particularly interesting. In the same boat with the others about "Kenz" Theme; nothing special, a bit too much wank and not enough Ken Stage. "Kasugano (Booty Mix)" was easily the most catchy/groovy/booty out of all 4. I remember getting annoyed by the Sakura samples the first time I heard this, but liking how they were in there later. Less mechanically sequencing for the instrumentation would have made this significantly stronger, but the groove was good enough where it didn't matter too much.

: 239 - No Album - B.B. Revolution : 116 - Nidhoggr 2 - Edgar & Mash : 208 - OC Remix - Kasugano (Booty Mix) : 056 - girlzmelon - Kenz ThemeKenz Theme isn't too terrible, and I like the soloing, but the whole piece is, to cop the others, nothing special. Percussion wasn't working for me at all. Plus, it has my pet peeve of a fadeout during a solo. ![]() Kasugano (Booty Mix) has the groove, but I'm not really impressed overall. Kinda repetitive, although there is some decent variety, and I wasn't really feeling the hook or vocal samples. Edgar & Mash started off awesome, but then it just hit the eject button and floated back down to the ground with that piano ending. What gives? That sort of ending can work, but not here as a substitute for further development. ![]() It'd probably be wrong to vote for B.B. Revolution solely because of Michael Fantasy, but damn that Flash animation (and series) is awesome. It definitely does more than meet the ROCK THE FUCK OUT quota. |

056 - girlzmelon - Kenz Theme
Pretty standard stuff, and not really my thing. 116 - Nidhoggr 2 - Edgar & Mash If this had been an arranged contest, I'd have put up the piano version of this theme. Maybe it's because I was primed to expect that, but this metal cover just doesn't do it for me. 208 - OC Remix - Kasugano (Booty Mix) Eh, your garden variety techo-funk with not a whole lot to set it apart aside from annoying vocal samples. 239 - No Album - B.B. Revolution Some good parts; some made my ears hurt. Pretty weak match; I don't feel a real affinity for any of the tunes. ![]() From goop we came, to goop we return.
