Rockified does not always a great remix make. Neither does piano either, but hell if I can place the source material (and Shnabubula's chops are clearly evident). At times in this contest, I feel I'm punishing songs whose source material I know because I can tell what's straight translation and what is real creative reimagining. Unfamiliar tunes, on the other hand, I can just evaluate on their own merit. It's a flawed system.

Anyway, Anachronism is decent enough to win here.

Quoted for abs. truth.
I like Anachronism mostly for its atmosphere, which is actually very much like why I like Secret of Evermore for its atmosphere. Of course the execution is well-done too. It feels fragmentary at times, but the impressive parts make up for it.

The expression in Shnabubula's playing is simply a treat, from light and delicate touches to louder "shouts" of joy. And the depth and intricacy to it... this Edgar & Mash rock rehash simply pales beside it. Sorry guys!

027 - OC Remix - Anachronism
Brilliant, noir-tinged piano work that's a strong favorite. It took me awhile to place the source tunes, but OCRemix lept to the rescue: it's a Secret of Evermore mix, with aspects of "Halls of Collosia II," "Ivor Tower Town," and "Flying."

116 - Nidhoggr 2 - Edgar & Mash
Maybe it's the memory of this song's excellent piano arrangement, but this particular version has never merited more than a "meh."

Anarchonism's the clear winner for me.

I voted for Edgar and Mash first time around, and while I love the source material to death and still come away with a good feeling from this rock arrangement, it doesn't grab me like the first time I heard it.

Anachronism, I didn't vote for. I'm correcting this oversight now. I am not familiar with the source material and that doesn't matter in the slightest bit. I must of glossed over this without paying much attention, because this is on par with professional work. This is, really, just amazing and I cannot believe a professional within the industry isn't responsible for this. It's almost certainly a front runner for me to win the whole thing now that I've payed the proper attention.
Will they!?

The abstract piano wins me over here, even though I like the clearly sectioned remix of Edgar and Mash. Probably partially because I overlistened to Edgar and Mash too. Anachronism is actually quite flowing and charming now that I listen to it again. I love the Ivor Tower part!
