Ootori was certainly an interesting blend of ethnic instruments in a fast-paced rock out, but closer to avant-garde interesting than keeps-my-ears-interested. The song with the crazy name just sounds much more texturally pleasing.

There are some awkward seams visible, but at times this combination of ching-chong and rock-kin is decent. 225 - Bound Together - Vector Point Engineering Water Buffalo I've cooled a little bit in my enthusiasm for this track, but it's still got some nice techno licks and atmosphere. Over the handful of these contests we've had here, I've come to find that the most agonizing decision to come to in these things is when your own nomination comes up against something new that you enjoy immensely. Most of the time, I just vote for my nom anyway, but Ootori is balls to the walls fantastic. It did have to grow on me, but I adore this track now and I just have to do the honorable thing and admit that what I brought to the table is outmatched.
edit: oh wow, wasn't expecting that. ![]() |
