We can die heroically, comically, ironically, sadly, suddenly, slowly, disgustingly, charmingly or from a great height.

This was easy for me. I like The Shins just fine and this is probably one of my favorite songs on Wincing The Night Away but The Clash is legendary. It's no Janie Jones but when you fight the law and the law happens to be The Clash, of course the law is gonna win.

I fought the law was a safe pick, definitely, but for a good bloody reason. Just a fantastic track. This isn't even close for me. Early punk for the everlasting fucking win.

The Shins are all right and all, but against the Clash? Don't have a hope.
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah

The Shins song is pretty decent. I don't find any glaring fault here.

Personally, as someone with a self-professed old-fashioned taste, I prefer the Bobby Fuller Four version of "I Fought the Law", although this isn't a bad cover of it, just not in the genre I'd appreciate.

Turn on Me is definitely one of the best songs on the Shins' repertoire. The catchiness, "Fond of Y-O-U" is too glaringly cute, and just overall uplifting.

This cover of I Fought the Law is okay, but I know that the Clash has better original songs too.
