Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):

Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?
Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros.

Currently playing: Nothing

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

What else do I listen to?

Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia - EXEC_CHRONICLE_KEY-.
A refreshing departure from the ear-shattering norm of bad Japanese singing. The vocalists aren't quite up to the challenge of doing something serious and classically-inclined--there are definite flashes of pop here and there--but at least they're crafted an interesting failure.

Bully - Vendetta Preps
Not as fond of this one as I was a round ago; reading the comments made it seem a lot less original, as did repeated listens. But it's still fresh, though rapidly approaching its expiration date.

Preps.

Vendetta Preps is waaaay too repetitive for me (it's also annoying me for some reason).

I remember some songs with a similar title in previous BSCs and not liking them at all, so I wasn't expecting too much from EXEC_CHRONICLE_KEY, but it managed to impress me in the middle section with a very well-mixed violin and some soft vocals. Some parts of this song come off a bit forced, as though they tried to do too much, but overall I can't complain too much.

Vendetta Preps
backloggery!

Eh, I don't think the repetitive arguments hold water, since Vendetta Preps does a decent job of overlaying new elements over the insanely catchy baseline beat (the guitar noodling is a particular favorite). After three rounds (prelims included) this still has juice.

I like the middle of EXEC when the celtic elements are introduced. The whole song is decent enough, and the voices never grate as you expect them to. But it's not the superior song in this match-up.

You bastards. Fuck Vendetta Preps. I haven't even HEARD the competition and I'm voting for it. But hey, that's a revenge vote for taking down TWO of my nominations and I'm fine with that.

"EXEC_CHRONICLE_KEY-." is one of the most well-structured songs in this contest. Everything clicks together, and each passage progresses fluidly to the next, maintaining the elegance of the vocalists really well. That dramatic choral melody reels me in every time, and the quieter interludes aren't too shabby either. Grade-A stuff.

As for "Vendetta Preps":

Couldn't have put it better myself. It won't get my vote, but I won't mind if it progresses here.

"EXEC_CHRONICLE_KEY-. - 9/10
"Vendetta Preps" - 8.5/10

My god, everything but Vendetta Preps is okay for me. Besides, that EXEC_CHRONICLE_KEY isn't that bad.

This isn't just the year of the tie, it's the year of the 19-19 tie.

GFF has clearly split into two warring factions between which there can be no peace or compromise and who hold diametrically opposing musicological views. Evenly matched, the combat will wax eternal yea until the trumpets sound and Ragna Rock is upon us.
