Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):

Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?
Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros.

Currently playing: Nothing

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

What else do I listen to?

Person's Warmth only has melody . . . Dark Star has the whole nine yards.
LOL!

The Dark Star really bores me. A Person's Warmth isn't normally my style and at times verges on becoming too saccharine, but it still keeps my interest longer.
I got more moves than a U-Haul.

Yes, it still sounds like Kansas. And even though I think A Person's Warmth acquits itself perfectly fine as a town theme (love those muted horns, seems like they're lifted right out of the Lake Hylia theme from Twilight Princess), I can't choose it here.

But, all scathing theological debates from last round aside, I love Dark Star. When that piano gets reintroduced, it picks the track right up from its incredible opener. Top notch.

I'm not normally one to make a big deal out of intstrumentation, nor am I one to turn down a tasty SNES tune, but after listening to the WA3 OST for a while, A Person's Warmth just makes me feel good inside. The feel of the sound is pure and human.

The Dark Star is a classic, and props to Kikuta, but I gotta show some Naruke love.

Seiken Densetsu 2 - The Dark Star
I was a bit disappointed to see this triumph over an equally good tune last round, but then I'd have felt pretty much the same way if it had lost. One of the finest tracks from the darker and more introspective side of Kikuta's magnum opus, and a potent listen.

Wild ARMs 3 - A Person's Warmth
The song is nice, even if it does have a little bit too much in common with Kansas. Would that it had a little more in common with Dan Savio, but they can't all be like that.

Darkstar.

"The Dark Star is some quality Kikuta stuff, can't really complain. The way this piece develops is particularly good, and those snare drums are used to great effect, methinks. Yup, the clear winner in this pairing, both objectively and subjectively speaking.

Ugh, I remember suffering through this pointless "A Person's Warmth" thing last round. >_> This one just lacks a whole lot of substance and charm. Sure it's got (a pathetic) melody, but everything about it screams "cliche" and "lame". Hell, I don't even like the pan flute sample and I usually love pan flute material!

"The Dark Star" - 8/10
"A Person's Warmth" - 3/10

Edit: You've got to be kidding me. =.="

Hay, the people have spoken. What can you do, Muzza? We're actually the vocal minority here.
