Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):

Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?
Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros.

Currently playing: Nothing

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Could Dangerous Seed (Gen) - Stage 1: 1st Tube be another generic Genesis shmup-style track that uses superior synth and hyperativity to cover up for its total lack of ideas? Is GFF mostly purple?

With Super Monaco GP (Gen) - Hold in Check, we have the long-awaited Battle of the Generic Genesis Shmup-Style Tracks. The melody in this track is slightly more prominent, but the tune is, if anything, more repetitive.

In case the above rants weren't evidence enough, I don't like either one. My official advisor, George Washington, indicates a strong preference for Super Monaco, though.

The site looks mostly navy blue to me. >_>

1st Tube I could actually remember five minutes after I heard it. It's not the greatest song in the world, but definitely better than the competition. NUAN sounds like someone I've heard before, and it's probably going to drive me crazy until I figure out where I've heard that style before.

1st Tube is ... ugh. I dunno. I don't like it.

Hold in Check is a little better.

Both are good and not completely unrelated (the Genesis sound helps, I guess). At first, I though "Dangerous Seed" was much lenghtier, but it's because it has an additional loop over "Super Monaco GP". The later sounds less oppressive and is more sloppy, which are two things I appreciate better here.

lol, I would've nominated the arcade version of 1st tube, actually (it was eligible). This is still incredibly awesome, and I don't get the hate.

Hold in Check is.... uhh.... Well it started out interesting, but then it ended.

The two are equally lame. Though I'm preferring the driving melody in Hold in Check a little more.

: 229 - Super Monaco GP (Gen) - Hold in Check
: 028 - Dangerous Seed (Gen) - Stage 1: 1st Tube

The Dangerous Seed track that was in the BSC was pretty good too. I love the bends at the start of the melody, although I wish there were more to the song before it looped. However, I gotta vote for an Uwabo song some time during this contest, and Hold in Check will be it. The same looping comment applies to it as well, but I prefer the noodling melody to the one in Stage 1.

Neither one is anything special. Nor do I like either one.

Stage 1's synth annoys me for some reason, though. Hold in Check it is.
