Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros. Currently playing: Nothing Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more What else do I listen to? |

Why am I voting for Battle of the Holy? Because I didn't give a shit about Crystal Chaser's song. Plus Battle of the Holy's awesome.

I must be losing my mind; I like Crystal Chaser's opening better. Disjointed as it is, the melody is far more interesting than the Castlevania track we've got here. Not everything to come from Castlevania is gold, unfortunately, and here's a rare case of Sakuraba not getting carried away with himself and trying to do something more epic than he's capable of.
EDIT: And of course, look which one is winning. Not that I'm going to cry about it, since I expect to be voting down whichever song wins anyway. ![]() |

The opening of Crystal Chaser (PC-98) - Opening is properly crystalline, but it soon opens up into something much more expansive and enjoyable. Nice melody and an expansive sweep to the song make this yet another Motoi A winner.
Castlevania Adventure (GB) - Battle of the Holy (Stage 1) is another bit of Transylvanian gene-rock mixed with a heaping helping of nostalgia and fanboyism. I swear, you people and your Castlevania noms/biases are going to embitter me agains the whole series. Motoi A FTW. ![]() From goop we came, to goop we return.

"Battle of the Holy (Stage 1)" sucks. I don't remember disliking it this much before. Maybe I've still got a bitter taste from last round..?
![]() But seriously, in all fairness I think that "Opening" is the better track. |

Castlevania Adventure - Battle of the Holy (Stage 1) - 28th best song of bracket D
Crystal Chaser - Opening - 31st best song of bracket D This pairing makes round three cry. Battle of the Holy is what happens when you make standard Castlevania as standard as it can possibly get. Crystal Chaser is absolutely pointless. Paradox. The first round of bracket D featured a match up against what quite possibly were the best two tracks of the entire contest. At the same time, it collectively features the worst group of songs on average across all eight brackets. Oh, and we seem to be advancing the weaker selections at almost every turn, so a thumbs up there as well. ![]() |
