"Mud Level" is starting to drain my energy...therefore, I vote for "Title Screen". And to think, a week ago I would have voted for "Mud Level" straight away.
|

I think Title would be a worthy champion for the tournament. You can't ask for much more from a synth rock chiptune than this track delivers.
Mud Level is growing on me a tad...I guess this is one of the songs that has to hit when you're in the right mood. The double-groove going straight into the melody to open is really good, now that I listen to it...It's not the cleanest thing around, but I'd be willing to have a look at the sound set this came from. But just like the last track Title faced, it just pales in comparison.

I think I may have voted for Mud Level once or twice, as a lesser-of-two-evils. There's a decent melody under all that muck, but the sound design is just dreadful. Sillius is far cleaner and more compelling.

Given the tracks Mud Level has beaten thus far in the tournament, I'm quite frankly shocked that it's currently losing 8-1 to not even the best Sunsoft track in the contest. I hope this is just sampling error.

I haven't voted for Mud Level once so far, and I see no reason to begin.
Bracket D is a washout anyhow. Neither of these tracks will do well beyond this point. Might as well give the vote to the one that has a little more nostalgia value. |
On the plus side, the .gbs set for S-11 isn't too bad (and the game looks pretty tasty to boot). Not something to listen to in the office everyday, but not bad. My next SOTW nomination might come from it...(probably track 7/12).

Title Screen is great stuff, but Mud Level is made of even more win in my book. The unique approach to the melody gets me every time, and the track seems to pack even more of a punch than its opponent. As orion said, Title Screen uses a cleaner style that's understandably more enjoyable for some... But for me, this makes it slightly bland compared to Mud Level's sound.

And just like that, Mud level is back in the race. Hot damn...

Silius might be a classic, but Mud Level is hella cool.

Title Screen was actually one of my noms (albeit one of the ones I only nominated because someone else had). It's classic Sunsoft for you.
Mud Level was a totally unexpected, but extremely welcome surprise in this contest. That awesome beginning still gets me. ML it is. I really have to get around to listening to the rest of Project S-11's music some day.

If it loses, it's all over.
Edit: Did anyone of you know that Jonne Valtonen was a pretty known demoscene musician at the '90s? He went by the alias Purple Motion. His Purple Sky II and UnreaL ][ / PM mods are nice.
