All this Fatalize hate has me confused. It's not THAT BAD guys.

Phendrana is still leaps and fucking bounds above it though.

God help us, Phendrana Drifts is actually the better track.

Bravo, Fatalize...You've repented for your swift defeat last year by making it to round 2. But Phendrana falls outside my normal listening and unlike most ambient music, appeals to me quite a bit. You're just too...normal. Extremely good, but Phendrana is just fresher overall.

DISCO PRINCE vs. The Burrow? Oooh, harsh. Both of these are really good tracks, with great development and interesting harmonic and melodic progressions. Such a shame only one can advance to the next round.

...Wait, neither one is advancing? Because they were beaten by boring generic crap?

Well, damn.

Grudging vote for Fatalize, because while it's a particularly feeble effort, even for Sakuraba, Phendrana, like, isn't even music. ::ANGER::

Phendrana Drifts sounds pretty boring, I dunno but somehow I wanted this track to end but it didn't. Fatalize is a semi-chiptune track, but it rocks, I think. Since it's by far not as boring as Phendrana Drifts, I gonna vote for it!

Both are boring as hell because of: no chord progression.
Metroid Prime gets the vote: it has a bit of interesting sound layering.
You're lying, dammit! And I can prove it!

Dspite the negativism surrounding it here, there's really nothing wrong with Fatalize (well, maybe the orchestral hits...never cared for those). Phendrana is no slouch either, to be sure (though if The Burrow had made it, this vote would've been instantaneous, let me assure you).

I'll make this a pity vote for Fatalize, given that both pieces are about equal (to me anyway) and Symphonia's being bullied on in these comments (parentheses are fun).

You know, there is music worse than nothing.

As far as ambience goes, Phendrana Drifts is pretty nice, especially between 0:58-1:35, but I really don't enjoy it as much as you guys do.

Fatalize sucks because:
-It beat Disco Prince
-It sucks to the point of painful
Will they!?

Fatalize sounds like standard Sakuraba which has never caught my fancy in any way (save 5 versions of Mission to the Deep Space >_>). Easy vote for Phendrana Drifts which I respect for being ambient in a non-boring way this time.

Haters all around. I like these two tracks very much -- and I liked the two they beat (though I'm still sticking with my vote against Disco Prince for remix-based reasons).

Anyway, it's a shock I'm voting against Phendrana Drifts again, which I'll always support to no end. Fatalize is that good. Sakuraba is like a dog -- when he takes a shit on your rug (any of his stock battle tracks), you yell at him. When he does something good (Fatalize), you reward him with a treat. And treat is my vote to the next round.

Phendrana Drifts is nice, ambient-wise, but I'm a sucker for anything Sakuraba, and Fatalize isn't as bad as some of you make it sound to be.

Fatalize isn't really bad, it just... has nothing good going for it. It's horribly average. The two songs it has faced, Disco Prince, and Pendrana Drifts, are both songs I quite enjoy, so I've found no reason to vote for Fatalize.
Why didn't he just...

Metroid Prime & Fusion — Phendrana Drifts
Very good ambience. Normally I'd say it's pretty minimalistic, but astonishingly what little it has is quite absorbing. Light piano and some mysteriosness has seldomly been used better.

Tales Of Symphonia — Fatalize
Good melody and beats in this track would make for a good battle theme. But it's Sakuraba, I mostly don't like the whole atmosphere he invokes. It's so cheesy. Probably people in the 80's were listening to it.(lol)

Ok, my fairly biased comment should easily give away that it's Phendrana Drifts.

Metroid Prime & Fusion — Phendrana Drifts is a piece of ambient shit. I say this as someone who loves many ambient pieces, and one who thinks such pieces are vastly underrated. That this ambient track should come so far when so many superior ambient tracks have fallen is insulting. That it won against The Burrow is a crime. I honestly don't understand what's going on here--people lambast this year's Myst tracks as boring, then turn around and vote for Phendrana. Metroid fanboysim? Mass insanity? Either way, it's driving me bonkers.

Tales Of Symphonia — Fatalize is Sakuraba's Battle Theme. It is, however, not Phendrana. This little-appriciated factor makes a lot of difference.

Vote for not-Phendrana.
