I went for the SotC track last time when it went down to Shadow of the Moon on the Water.
I like Enigmatic Scheme, but I'm not blown away by it. It reminds me very much of the detective themes from the Suikoden games (or even "The Trial" from Chrono Trigger). Its' shady melody is enjoyable and more importantly, far more interesting than the Sakuraba "epic ending" shtick which does not fucking die (either in terms of the contest or the running length). Easy vote for Enigmatic.

I'm screaming for vengenace... I'm shouting at the devil... I'm not dead and I'm not for sale... Ain't lookin' for nothin' but a good time... |

Why did Enigmatic Scheme have to beat Heart of Fire in the Prelims, and come this far? I like the Baiten Kaitos track better anyways. >_>

2/10 Enigmatic Scheme
Sounds a lot like "The Trial," except I still liked Chrono Trigger's song better. This song isn't terrible, the obvious melody is at least slightly interesting. However, the song has become really stale after the 4th time being forced to listen to it. 2.5/10 The Shadow of the Moon on the Water This song drags out a bit too long... but ultimately it becomes quite beautiful. It's by far not my favorite song, but its slightly good. |

Nyargh. Tough call. Two pieces that couldn't be more different in mood and energy, and both deserve to advance. Enigmatic wins out, though, as I pull it up to listen to much more often.
DAMN good coffee!

226 Unlimited SaGa — Enigmatic Scheme (E)
042 Baten Kaitos II — The Shadow of the Moon on the Water (F) Enigmatic Scheme is a rather powerful track which surprises with its kinda solid structure. The instrumentation is very good and I enjoyed listening to it. Shadow of the Moon on the Water is the total opposite for Enigmatic Scheme, a rather slow and gentle tune, not bad either, but I enjoyed Enigmatic Scheme a bit more, so I gonna vote for it! ![]() Shushkevich sued the Belarusian Ministry of Labor and Social Security: due to inflation, his retirement pension as a former head of state was the equivalent of one dollar and 80 cents monthly. |

Enigmatic Scheme is utterly wonderful. Kinda polka-ish, kinda Klezmer (I think) and just happy. Problem is, there's this juggernaut of a BKII song that's wonderful and a perfect example of how much better Motoi is now. Shadow of the Moon on the Water gets my vote.

Enigmatic Scheme is instant satisfaction and fun, but when you actually take the time to listen to Shadow of the Moon for half an hour or so, it's the better track.

Well I now officially LOATHE Enigmatic Scheme for knocking out Gigantic Fleet, which is one of my favorite new discoveries here, and Pirate Ship, which is hands down the most VGM tune in the contest.
The Shadow Moon Water is very good. It starts off rocky, but becomes wonderfully immersive throughout, and IMO it manages to stay fresh for those 8 minutes. Vote get |

I want Enigmatic Scheme to win because it definitely deserves exposure, despite becoming more and more repetitive. "Classical" + mystery is a very neat take on mystery music apart from the "spy" view one usually associates with mystery.
Moon Shadow is really nice, but also really long. Not quite as punching as Enigmatic Scheme. Although you exercise good patience to listen to this song at least twice to be able to appreciate it. Spoiler:
