Wow. To whomever nom'd that first track. Next time try some Avenue Q. De-NIED. Even King Crimson tops this shit.
To whomever ever nom'd the second track: Next time try some Dio. Dio is the motherfucking METAL. This is seriously the worst pairing, but voting for King Crimson because come on. Fucking Effron? |
I couldn't get this song out of my head for days after first hearing it. Sorry to do this to you, people. But it's Queen Latifah, come on!"You can't stop the bad taste!"

You can nom it next year, and we won't take the piss. Honest. No, for serious. |

Hearing this Queen LaTifah song and Straight Outta Compton puts into perspective what a mistake it is to nominate funny or jokey songs. Good luck, Kompressor.
I made the same mistake, sure, but at the time I was under the impression this event was all about waking up the community and having a bit of fun. Instead, everyone's angry and crying in frustration and confusion over what other people listen to and enjoy. |
|
First Muzza nominates this garbage, and then displays his disappointment in a song not being the Britney Spears song he thought it was. Then he claims to have taste. Just kick him out of the fucking contest already, jesus christ.
Edit: aaahahaha 12-1 ![]() ![]() The exhausted Barrier Trio struck one final Barrier Pose! |

I like the Nina Gordon tune.
![]() Um, as for these two we have a horrific tune from a crappy film (a rock) and a seven minute intro to a tune that never actually happens (a hard place). The non-event of the second tune is far less offensive than the sheer nonsense of the first. ![]() |

As much as I hate myself for voting for this Hairspray song, it sure kept me a little bit more entertained than zzzzzz. I have a feeling King Crimson has better prog than this...

I never liked musicals, and when they do retro-pastiche like Hairspray does (I really don't think people can write retro songs that can honestly sound like the time period they try to emulate), that is a bigger offense.
I'll take the King Crimson, although I think it wasn't that spectacular either. |
|
I have lost seven mice while trying to vote for the Hairspray track; they keep committing suicide by self-detonating. My fingers are quite stiff and burned.
As I'm tired of driving to the Best Buy six miles away for a new mouse each time, I'm going to instead vote for King Crimson and forget this pairing ever happened. |
|
Despite the one-sidedness of the results, i'm pretty sure my King Crimson nom is in eventual trouble. I'm not surprised really, as this was definitely one of my more 'hit or miss' selections. This is one of the few songs that i enjoy listening to with my eyes closed like a new-age douche. I just find it evokes this sort of night-time imagery i enjoy.
Also, You Can't Stop the Beat isn't as horrible of a track as i expected from the reaction at all. Maybe it helped that i didn't know anything about its context or the like? Who knows, but it was ok.
Music is a mysterious thing. Sometimes it makes people remember things they do not expect. Many thoughts, feelings, memories... things almost forgotten... Regardless of whether the listener desires to remember or not.

You're right that it's in trouble further ahead, but it is definitely a hit with me. I enjoy these sort of quiet and lengthy guitar noodling songs too. It has been one of the surprise highlights in the competition so far.

Haha I thought Pangalin was kidding when he wrote that people nominated Queen Latifah, but here we go. This could be a good soundtrack for the next Starbucks commercial. The guy that decided to present his voice at about two minutes in the song ("Zac Efron"?) is a prime example how to sing in a very, very queer way, the rest is pretty much collateral damage.
I don't really know what the guy who nominated that other song was smoking when he did so, but this is NOT a better track than what Mrs. Latifah and her three funny friends have to offer. Actually, it hurts my ears. Major GTFO right here ![]() This is the ![]() Shushkevich sued the Belarusian Ministry of Labor and Social Security: due to inflation, his retirement pension as a former head of state was the equivalent of one dollar and 80 cents monthly. |
