I don't know what's weirder, the band name or the idea of someone with a last name Geel discovering a meteor shower.

"Meteor Shower Geel" sounds like some sort of rock-bebop VGM battle music, and it actually sounds really cool. I'd play a game that uses this as the battle theme.

The actual VGM music remix thing, though, not bad, but not as interesting.

As a rule, I am not voting for VGM in this contest. We already have a contest for that shit so, aside from being pretty enjoyable, Meteor Shower Geel gets my vote by default.

Well I submitted this because I enjoyed it as a song, not because it was VGM

And As a rule, I don't vote for songs based on what genre they may or may not be, I vote for the songs based on if I like them or not. Yes fine, One Winged Angel is one thing, but this isn't something I've seen very often. Bah!

Then why is this "unique" song losing 9-0?

Because more people voted for the other song, obviously.

... but hey, I don't know why there's such a lop-sided score. It looks to me like you all have some weird bias against this song simply because it was related to a fucking video game, which is a goddamm stupid reason to not vote for a song. Its not even IN a video-game, its a remix.

Also,

If this is true, and we 'already have a contest for this shit' as you say, then VGM should have been 100% excluded. Because it was NOT, I assumed, that hey, ONE vgm song would be fine.

*sigh* but whatever, I should just ignore this, not like it matters anyway with 10-0 votes. However, If you're not going to vote for VGM as a rule, and I'm sure others have bandwagoned onto that same line of thought, then why even include VGM as a valid entry in the first place, if such IMMEDIATE and RESOLUTE determination to NOT vote for it? That's what I don't get.

Fuck, I regret submitting this now, if I had known it was going to be ignored simply by being associated as VGM.

Dark Nation, buddy, you aren't the first person to have their song immediately voted against based on an individual's principles; it's happening all over the goddamn place, are you not paying attention? The majority of people's nominations are taking a beating, so what.

You really could handle yourself a bit better here.

Because the people who determine what makes a valid entry (me!) aren't the same people who have knee-jerk genre biases, maybe?

The Game Music crowd could participate and minimize the effect of this bias. They choose not to. SHRUGZ

(I think that SAUS still, in some ways, treats VGM better than the BSC does — the "points" system prevents nonpopular songs from even seeing a poll, let alone winning.)
We can die heroically, comically, ironically, sadly, suddenly, slowly, disgustingly, charmingly or from a great height.

If people don't vote for my song selection based on their opinion of the song, that is, how it sounds, that's one thing, I have no problem with that.

... but the reasoning given by several individuals here, I find to be completely stupid. They're not voting for the other song because they like it better, they're voting for it because they don't like VGM being in this event, THAT's the problem I have.

As far as the songs itself go, I can't fairly vote on this particular seed, given my involvement. Meteor Shower Geel certainly is different and I think I'll grow into it more after repeated listening. Has a bit of an Earthbound vibe to it for whatever reason.

No seriously... Isn't this whole contest built around this? (or not)

That'll learn you, BOY!

Seriously, man. You nominated a fucking chiptune with guitars and synthesizers; did you really expect it to get far? Methinks you should regrow that semi-thick skin of yours and learn to, not only accept the fact that some of your songs aren't going to make it in this joint, but to enjoy that fact and find new music to, oh, you know, ENJOY. But I don't know... That's just me. In the meantime I guess I could very easily go over to another spot on the boards and complain about how a FAR SUPERIOR song didn't make the draft pick and got its ass kicked. (Hey! That kinda rhymes!)
It was spectacular.

I like VGM fine, but that other song is way too groovy to pass on.

I guess I can't convince you that I don't care if a song I nominated loses based on its musical merit, because that's the honest truth. You seem to be convinced that I'm making a fuss because I'm sad/angry/bitchy because my song is losing, THAT IS NOT WHY.

I DO Accept that fact, and I have never said otherwise. You seem to, from my perspective, be ignoring my point about the hypocrisy of including VGM in this contest and actively ignoring any submissions of that kind.

However, I can see this will go nowhere fast. Brick wall I guess. Time to move on.
