I used to hate Sixspence None The Richer because "Kiss Me" became so fucking played out back in 1999. Only thing was that their self-titled album was actually really fucking good. Then I stopped listening to them for the longest time and up until now haven't heard any of their songs. I gotta say that her voice still sounds great and I really like this tune. Under The Bridge, on the other hand, is an enjoyable lounge cover of one of the Peppers' better songs that had me smiling from ear to ear through and through.
Tough pairing, really... I like both songs but I think I'll go with Under The Bridge. |

There's always something strangely witty about covering song from the angle of a crooner or lounge musician. It seems to be a popular thing to do these days second to polka covers.
Yet the Sixpence song is rather pretty and subdued. Currently my mood is swinging towards them and I have no qualms in voting for them now. This is a decent pairing. ![]() Classic J-Pop Volume 22 |

I like Under the Bridge (RHCP) and the lounge thing doesn't click with me.
I love Sixpence's cover of Don't Dream It's Over and the band just has that feel good vibe. It can drag a little but I like it more than lounge. |

A lounge cover not Richard Cheese? Pass.
I'm like Beaner, I hated Sixpence for the longest time, but her voice is really, really good. And the usage of simple tune here really works. Anyone who's into her should really check out Angie Hart. She's like a more talented version of this broad. |

Agreed, I thought Richard Cheese pioneered this schtick, and even he sucks to me at this point anyway.
As for Sixpence, i've only ever heard that Kiss Me song, so i'm expecting something cute here. It's a nice song for what it is. If my girlfriend listened to this song while i was around, it wouldn't be the worst of all possibilities.
Music is a mysterious thing. Sometimes it makes people remember things they do not expect. Many thoughts, feelings, memories... things almost forgotten... Regardless of whether the listener desires to remember or not.
