Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros. Currently playing: Nothing Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more What else do I listen to? |

The guitars (all of them) in Day Game are pretty cool, panflute melody is lame, where have I heard this before.
Gekko is a breath of fresh air from the currently weak showing of set #12. Even then, it's not the best tense atmosphere tune I've ever heard. The beat is cool. Best part by far is the fakeout melody at 0:47, it's like it was created just to make fun of the rest of the songs in the contest. |

Little Busters! - Day Game
I'm a big fan of acoustic guitars, pan pipes, and sitar. Day Game combines them all and more into one breezy and melodic package. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - Gekko It definitely sounds like MGS, but doesn't move very far beyond that basic sound. I hope the MGS4 tracks so far aren't indicative of the overall OST quality... Day Game. ![]() 2008 NaNoWriMo Word Count: 33004/50000 |

I'm a huge Shinji Orito fan, and "Day Game" is one of my favourite pieces of his. It also helps that I really like pan-flutes and sitars in my VGMz. This piece does everything flawlessly; the pan-flute melody is memorable and sweet in an outdoorsy kind of way; the sitar breaks have awesome written all over 'em; and the piano finish is
x10. Fantastic!"Gekko" is one of the better Metal Gear themes I've heard. The frenetic instrumentation is great, and the buildup in intensity really makes me wonder where the piece will go next. Having said that, it didn't have an amazing climax like I was hoping. But still, it's pretty grand. "Day Game" - 9.5/10 "Gekko" - 8/10 ![]() |

What a disappointment to see this happening.
I thought Gekko was pretty good, using those strings in a fluent, stabbing chromatic way. Going into another key with more tension building up. Also have to say, there is a part where the evil melody goes into a more soothing melody, but this soothing melody has a variation the second time it's played, going directly into the evil melody again, something like a switch of mood, counter rhythm. The climax really is there because of the use of anvils and crescendos. Not to mention the superb quality of sound. Okay, the piece is a little too short to win, but such a bad score is not what I expected. Damn. Day Game, kick me or something, but it's still pretty standard beach music. |
: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - Gekko : Little Busters! - Day GameDay Game started off decently but then that panflute came in and ruined everything with the melody from every town theme ever. Luckily that shit stops at 1:10 and the sitar + e. guitar is pretty awesome, but then the melody comes back and I am . Actually, none of the melodies in Day Game are really worth it, but points for effort because the guitar work shows Orito was clearly trying.Gekko has 0:47 and Day Game doesn't so Gekko automatically wins. Nothing beyond standard, but nothing that ruins it either. |

I figured there would be a kick-ass song in this matchup. Who knew it would be Day Game? It's got fun to spare and enough guitar, sitar, piano and funk to make it a grab-bag of goodies. Pan flute's fine too.
Gekko is actually pretty close. Even if it never delivers its fully bombastic climax, it enchants with the way its builds up and weaves in its frantic strings. This is a good track. But it's not the best here. |

Day Game is really nice, one of my favorites so far. As for Gekko, I've never been a fan of MGS music outside of the games. It may work well enough when conveying tension / epicness / sneaking in-game, but it's not something I would want to listen to outside of it.
