Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros. Currently playing: Nothing Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more What else do I listen to? |

Valkyria of the Battlefield - Desperate Fight
Triumphant, brassy, and brightly melodic militaristic--this tune is pure unadulterated Sakimoto. If you don't like his style, this won't convince you otherwise, but as a fan it's pure manna. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance - Rally the Spirit This makes an interesting contrast to Desperate Fight. It's got the same basic building blocks--let's face it, they're both militaristic tracks for tactical RPG's. But here, the elements are combined clumsily and without flair. That's enough to triumph against a weak opponent, but not a superior example of the same style. Desperate Fight, easily. ![]() 2008 NaNoWriMo Word Count: 33004/50000 |

Oh dear the militaristicisms are overwhelming. X_______x
"Desperate Fight" is really lame and boring for about 80% of its duration, but the other 20% is actually rather swell. You know, the part where the melody kicks in and things go from serious to uplifting. A shame the whole track wasn't as enjoyable as this brief climax. Actually, I rephrase that: shame on you Mr. Sakimoto. >=[ "Rally the Spirit" won its first round encounter? Huh. Well, I don't think it'll be progressing beyond this round. The instrumentation's grand and expectedly crisp, but the composition itself seems to bland in comparison to Sakimoto's (oh god I never thought I'd say that). The trumpets are nice, but Sakimoto's 20% wins it for me here. "Desperate Fight" - 6/10 "Rally the Spirit" - 4/10 ![]() |

Fuck this pairing. At least this means one of these drab songs will not make it to a third round, that would be an abomination. Still, one of them making it that far is a bit depressing as well.
I'll vote for Rally the Spirit because of its sound quality. How sad, voting on something because its samplebank is bigger. D: |

Ugh. You know, I think Desperate Fight is OK on my first listen, but it's not great. It's better than Braveheart wannabe, though.

Valkyria of the Battlefield - Desperate Fight
I hear Sakimoto, is this Sakimoto? If it's Sakimoto I need to listen to the whole OST. After seeing the comments: I knew it, Sakimoto is so predictable in style. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance - Rally the Spirit Nice, but I'm voting for the other song. |

Not really, Sakimoto has a very, very recognizable style.
