GFF is a hellhole full of elitists who chat about everything EXCEPT games. We have a team of dedicated moderators who will ban your ass on the slightest provocation, constant member-organized activities that you are not allowed to participate in, and plenty of custom features, including our unique journal system where you can post entries that will be completely ignored. If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ or our GFWiki. You will have to register before you can post. Although membership is completely free (and gets rid of the pesky advertisement unit underneath this message) we do not recommend that you sign up, because you will get kicked in the nuts repeatedly.

Holy clash of the Titans here. Probably the best tracks from two of the community's best. I am completely unsurprised that these two are eventually squaring off against each other.
At first glance, they both seem completely without flaw, but with repeat listens, theyboth have a few minor weaknesses. Monstrous Turtles!'s weakness being a somewhat toothless guitar sound; It doesn't breathe as much as it should, and sounds overly synthetic. 140.85 has some pretty weakass transitions between the different themes, and the ending is anticlimactic compared to a lot of the song's highlights. I've spent about 45 minutes going back and forth between the two, and after a lot of thought, I'm going to give my vote to 140.85. DoD frequently has song medlys, but while most of them tend to be overblown and long just for the sake of being long, 140.85 feels justified in it's length. Each part furthers the track, and in the end the actually fufilled ambitious nature puts it over the top. |

Monstrous Turtles is certainly held together more tightly than the medleyfest of MY FREQUENCY IS 140.85, and the dark synth-arpeggioed atmosphere is quite enjoyable. Little things like even the thunder add a subtle touch.
On the other hand, MY FREQUENCY rocks out hard with dramatic orchestral & screaming-guitar flair, and the fact that it is a medley means that there is plenty of variance. And virt arranges the individual tunes with enough change that it feels pretty natural when jumping or flowing from piece to piece. In the end, virt's piece just feels like it has a little more power and spice behind it than even zircon's destined-to-be-classic mix. ![]() A light on the water... all souls pass... |
