Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros. Currently playing: Nothing Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more What else do I listen to? |

3 Destinies isn't too bad, but I can't possibly vote against Thunderclap. Grand Fantasm OST > Mana Khemia.

|
Three Destinies of Lamentation: This is an interesting piece of music. It's got some funk influences mixed with some Asian soundscapes. It's also kinda jazzy. I also love the choice of instruments. Spectacular.
Thunderclap: Grand Fantasm is easily my least favorite of the Atelier Iris soundtracks. I really think that the lack of Daisuke Achiwa hurt this soundtrack. The battle themes produced by him really were amazing. This is a bit cutesy. Granted, this song isn't really too bad and having played the game, it did grow on me. Vote for "Three Destinies of Lamentation." It was something I've heard for the first time and was quite entertaining. |

Holy shit on a shingle, I started seriously doubting that there was going to be any sort of grand surprises popping up due to the nomination quality so far, but Three Destinies of Lamentation can color me impressed. Let's here it for not being painfully generic.

Samurai Shodown III - Three Destinies of Lamentation
A very interesting track, this. A kind of funk/Asian classical/rock fusion with a very distinctive sound. I'm not sure I can totally get into it, but it's fascinating. Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm - Thunderclap Another odd fusion, though certainly less so than the last. Synth meets jazz and Latin. Again, it's not the sort of thing I want to embrace, but it's not without its merits. It'll be interesting to see how this one pans out. ![]() 2008 NaNoWriMo Word Count: 33004/50000 |

Three Destinies of Lamentation-
Very cool ideas on this one; talk about genre mashup. You never know what to expect with this, and it all works pretty well too. Thunderclap- pretty good, but generic until we got to the chorus, where they was finally some meat. Nice breakdown afterwards. I wish Thunderclap had been stronger, so I didn't have to agonize over this so much, but I am working with what I have. |
|
Lamentation is quite an original one, integrating different styles and compiling some unique instrumentation. The meter changes are also nifty. I think it's interesting to note that this is the second or third song in the contest already to have bits in seven time (Clap and Walk comes to mind immediately, but I seem to recall having heard something else...). Easy vote for me.

Lamentation HOLY FUCK IT'S A MINDBLOW. Progressive funk. Holy god. Fantastic.
Thunderclap's got a nice bassline and a cool melody when it starts. Keeps it up decently, too. Tough pairing. If Lamentation wasn't so fuck-all incredible, Thunderclap'd be a sure vote. |

"Three Destinies of Lamentation" is a really pleasant amalgamation of styles and sounds. ^.~ Love the varying doses of funk, jazz and experimentalism! And it all develops in a remarkable way; no real notable melody, but you can consider me a fan of this one regardless.
Ah, the Gust Sound Team. <3 "Thunderclap" is a typically awesome Atelier battle theme, with some entertaining melodic hooks and instrumental passages. It's lacking some of the vigor of the more entertaining Gust battle themes out there, but it'd oddly sophisticated and charming in its wacky demeanour. I think I'll vote for "Destinies", but this one's not too far off at all. "Three Destinies of Lamentation" - 8/10 "Thunderclap" - 8/10 ![]() |

I'll be the turd in the punch bowl: I'm nowhere progressive enough to "get" Three Destinies. Meanwhile, I don't find Thunderclap anywhere near generic, and actually all the instruments that chime in make it a distinctively good listen.

Thunderclap has a really nice sounding synth lead and a funky bass. It's trying so hard to impress me and it's succeeding. Good for it, I guess.
But oh my god, where did Three Destinies come from. Definitely the coolest new discovery in the contest so far. Whoever nominated this is a EDIT: Just saw Rotor nominated it, changed post accordingly. EDIT: If anyone that's capable of changing vote tallies is reading this, can you move a bunch of votes over from Thunderclap to Three Destinies, thanks in advance

'Three Destinies of Lamentation' - This song is cool as hell. I'm not sure what kind of gaming this kind of piece would fit over, but it reminds me of the world-meets-fusion-meets-electric-violin insanity of John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra circa 1972, which is supremely awesome. SNK's music people definitely get a gold star and a thumb's up for this one.
'Thunderclap' - This song lacks cohesion and loses major points with me for featuring atrociously generic dualing acoustic guitar/piano soloing (both of which sound like crap piano solos and probably were originally). The slap bass sound also pushes it painfully deep into Weather Channel Local Forecast territory, which is just annoying. Even if Thunderclap were better conceived, it would still take a lot to beat the first song. SNK wins my vote and I'm definitely going to look into more music from that game.

Three Destinies of Lamentation is darn good, it has interesting ideas and they come off resonably well. I'm not sure I enjoyed it a lot but I love the mood and creativity.
Thunderclap feels incredibly generic in comparison. The melody doesn't do a lot for me although there are some nice solos towards the end. Three Destinies gets my vote. |
: Samurai Shodown III - Three Destinies of Lamentation : Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm - ThunderclapThunderclap would be pretty cool if its melody weren't completely lame and lacking in any energy at all. And what's up with those solos, the track pretty much grinds to a halt. Who thought of Three Destinies of Lamentation, god you're insane I love you keep making music |

Three Destinies of Lamentation sounds pretty interesting.
Never really got into Thunderclap. The battle themes from the first two Atelier Irises are more interesting.

Thank you for Three Destinies of Lamentation, which clearly beats the shit out of many other snoozefest tracks in the contest so far. However, I'll also have to admit that it's a miss for me, since the hybrid is a bit too strange for once, although it would aptly suit Basara's character. Despite being a miss, I'm just digging Thunderclap, and in comparison, it's pretty generic. Piano breaks have to be more virtuosic than randomly placed glissandos to catch my interest. Rewarding originality this time.

It's nice to hear something a bit different in Three Destinies. I wish it was longer and more developed, though.
Thunderclap is one of only three noms of mine that made it in, and I'm going to support it. It's not my favorite Atelier battle theme, but it's pretty good.
