Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?
Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros.

Currently playing: Nothing

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Klonoa: Door to Phantomile - Baladium's Drive
Klonoa seems to enjoy a healthy respect in these parts, and songs from the series regularly show up in SotW. This piece has a nice feel to it, ethereal yet busy. Definitely one of the better series tracks I've heard

Voodoo Vince - Jean Lafitte's Ship
I have a copy of this one, though for the life of me I can't remember where it came from. It's a good 'un, though, with a pseudo-nautical feel spiced with some New Orleans touches.

Very tough call here. I'll have to mull this one over for a bit.

EDIT: I think I'll call it for Baladium, which is a bit fresher for me. No bad on either one, though.

I'm thankful for Kaleb's assistance. Without his support, there couldn't be this track. "Jean Lafitte's Ship" is more colorful, but I'm voting for a pseudo-folklore track.

Well Jean Lafitte has some great instrumentation. I won't feel bad if it wins.

However, Baladium's Drive has a sound which I really enjoy. I like the melody a whole lot, and I have to vote for it.

Jean Lafitte's Ship is pretty adventurous once you get past the wacky instrumentation. Actually, don't get past that, it's the best part.

The Door to Phantomile soundtrack is some of the best platformer music I've heard; it's odd that the only track I don't really like is the stage 1-1 theme (windmill song). Baladium's Drive has the melody at 0:36, which is amazing once you realize it's a boss theme.

Tough call but not so tough: Baladium's Drive.
I got more moves than a U-Haul.

Both of these were sneakily good. Voodoo edges out because it has a richer, more evocative feel of its cajun/parisian sensibilities. Random note: Did anyone else hear bits of West Side Story's "I'm So Pretty" in Jean Lafitte's Ship?

I love everything Klonoa, and while I haven't listened to it in ages, the Door to Phantomile contains an abundant supply of cheery, melodic tunes. "Baladium's Drive" isn't one of my favourites from said score, but it's still got a sound I can appreciate. The celtic instrumentation is nicely complimented by the uplifting melody, and the over attitude of the piece is particularly carefree. Just the sort of tone I like~

I've been meaning to check out the Voodoo Vince soundtrack for ages...I mean, just listen to this "Jean Lifitte's Ship" piece, it's great. It's like "The Sea", another song in this contest, but better. Probably some of the best pirate-VGM I've heard; it's catchy throughout and knows what its doing in regards to the developments. Top stuff!

"Baladium's Drive" - 7.5/10
"Jean Lifitte's Ship" - 8.5/10

Baladium's Drive is nicely energetic, with neat celtic feel + driving guitar. Love it.

And then there's some awesomeness in its competition, and I'm feeling it ten seconds in. Amazing. Where's the good music like this earlier on?

Jean Lafitte's Ship is pretty impressive. Nice combination of instruments anchored with good writing.

The Klonoa series has awesome tunes, and Baladium's Drive is one of many. Then again, Kohta Takahashi is the man, so this is expected. The melody at 0:36 seals it.
