Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros. Currently playing: Nothing Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more What else do I listen to? |

God of War II - Atlas Remembers (Bonus Track)
Pretty obviously inspired by the ultimate barbarian music: "Conan" by Basil Poledouris. It suffers a but in comparison with that, of course (what doesn't?) but the song does manage a deep and impressive sound. And if it's a little close to a film music cue, what of it? Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift - Front and Back The lighthearted and optimistic FFTA2 songs are my personal favorites, but the darker songs have their merits. This one has a nice melody, and --as one would expect from a strategy track--great percussion. Close. But I think that Atlas could use a boost. ![]() 2008 NaNoWriMo Word Count: 33004/50000 |

I gave a decent endorsement of Atlas last round, but I take it back: its best moments are in shorter supply than I remember. It probably wouldn't get my vote anyway against Front and Back, which is a much more engaging orchestral track thanks to delightful strings and subtle piano use.

Hmm, I don't seem to remember this "Atlas Remembers (Bonus Track)" piece, but who really cares about memorability here. This is intense, gripping, and above all entertaining orchestral stuff. It really keeps me on the edge of my seat throughout, and the epic buildups almost send me tumbling to the floor. Well done, Gerard Marino, you sadistic bastard!
Oh yeah, I remember this one, it's that dull, colourless FFTA piece. =.=" "Front and Back" is, wow, extremely dull. I don't know what melody some of you guys are talking about, I can't discern it whatsoever. One of the blandest pieces in the contest. "Atlas Remembers (Bonus Track)" - 8.5/10 "Front and Back" - 3.5/10 ![]() |

Front and Back is Boring like most of the FFT tracks I've heard.
At least Atlas has some decent movement. |

God of War II - Atlas Remembers (Bonus Track)
Sound has potential, but the song itself is so unmelodious. To be honest I'm not a fan of the super big atmosphere music. Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift - Front and Back Bad sound, nothing too interesting in the song. I'm not impressed, but I'll vote for God of War. |
