Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros. Currently playing: Nothing Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more What else do I listen to? |

Ys Origin - OBORO
One of the better Falcom efforts. There are some electronic, vaguely clubbish things thrown in as seasoning, but the real attraction is the overall synthy sound. Ridge Racer - Night Stream While this tune has some worthwhile parts, on the whole it winds up being just another repetitive and dull racing track. Faith and begorrah, it's Pappy O'Borro. ![]() 2008 NaNoWriMo Word Count: 33004/50000 |

Night Stream - Ugh...boring, generic and cheezy. What the fuck is this?
...okay, it's Ridge Racer.

As can be seen from the previous comments, these two tracks are pretty close in quality level, though they're very different in style. I like Falcom, but the newer, post-chip stuff never quite appealed to me. Night Stream sounds like a reject from Fantavision. It's good but a little on the long side considering the amount of variation in the track.
I don't recall hearing either of these tracks last round, that says something about how memorable they are. Anyway, I'll give it to Night Stream, but either one of these is just about okay by me. |

"OBORO"'s flair and "in-your-face"ness is respectable, and the numerous funky elements make the tune sound cohesive and disjointed at the same time, something which I quite like. But the melody is way too sparse for my liking; though those violin touches carry a nice melody with them.
I remember this "Night Stream" piece, it's really cool and jazzy. This is some really great driving music; it paints a soundscape pretty damn artistically if you ask me. The music itself isn't spectacular in a standalone way, but as background music, and particularly as a chillout track, it's great. "OBORO" - 7/10 "Night Stream" - 8.5/10 ![]() |

Loving the comments in the thread here. Night Stream is one of my favorite tracks to be spawned from the portable RR titles, the fact that KOHTA MOTHERFUCKING TAKAHASHI composed it is just a bonus. It's got nice flow, it's relatively laid back, and like Muzza said, a nice driving tune. Not all of the RR tracks work well outside of the series, but I'd like to think that this one does.

Ys Origin - OBORO
Seems like all the songs I listened to today are cool. This one is no exception. The sounds quality doesn't even bother me that much here. Enjoying the variety of sounds, rhythms, harmonies, structure... Saving it. Ridge Racers - Night Stream I like these chords and the jazzy feeling of it. I like every sound effect I hear. The rhythm has something Nakano-Hamauzu about it. Reminds me of Musashiden II battle music. Saving it. Wow, I'll flip a coin like Two Face. Ys wins. (but I'm going for Ridge Racers, because I just heard something interesting) |

YsOrganLOL.
RidgeRacersChillLOL. I will vote for chill, while lovin' the YSLOL. |

Takahashi's one cool cat, but I always found most of his Ridge Racer stuff to be weak in comparison to everything else. I guess I could say the same for Ridge Racer music in general; a few gems, but a lot of "meh".
OBORO's going to the top!
