I'm a huge Shining in the Darkness/Shining Force I and II soundtrack fan, so for me this vote is exceedingly easy (I haven't played any Shining games past that, or heard their soundtracks, so I don't know if those are also good). I just love the structures of those tracks, they're march-y and classical but they have an unusual twist in them that brings them out of the "typical Jap RPG battle" mould. Also, the Megadrive synth programming is very good on these tracks.
Of course, this isn't one of those marchy tracks, but it does demonstrate the great FM synth programming and great structures that a lot of tracks from these games possess. Meta Knight is pretty solid also I have to say, quite a groovy fun little piece, but I have to go with my old favorite here. |
