Round 2 Pairing F06 South Bridge vs. Undersea Palace

Hey, this song should be the official song of that thing Merv started, whatever it is. South Bridge ahoy!

What can be said about Chrono Trigger that hasn't already? Other than that IT SUCKS MONKEY NUTS. Undersea Palace for the win or lose!

I guess South Bridge is okay...I was pretty bored by both tracks in its' pairing and forgot to vote/comment. I guess its' more exciting to play than to actually listen. Meh. I won't even pretend this is on Undersea Palace's level, because it's not even close.

Ciao.

In comparison with other tracks of Sim City, "South Bridge" is a boring one.

"Undersea Palace" in contrast, as old as it is, a track I can still listen to. Yeah, I like it!

Cheers.

An improv jazz session, SimCity 3000 - South Bridge is decent easy listening but does little for me, as most improv jazz does. Yes, it's amazing that you can all play without music in front of you, but that doesn't make it better.

Damn you people for voting against Mystic Quest, especially with the Mitsuda hatefest that's raging elsewhere. People wouldn't know good Sasai if it assaulted them with a baseball bat. That immutible fact aside, Chrono Trigger - Undersea Palace is a decent song, 50% pure awesome and 50% repetitive garbage (and Mystic Quest, of course, was 100% awesome).

It pains me, but I have to choose Undersea agains the howling chaos of South Bridge.

Well, maybe if there wasn't a board-wide thing against so-called "generic rock", that wouldn't be the case.

I also don't blame people for supporting Mitsuda's fairly rousing CT tracks over his modern "relaxo" tracks. Nothing he's done matches CT and much of XG to me (certainly nothing in the contest).

Cheers.

The only problem with that theory is that nobody mentioned anything about "generic rock" in the previous voting thread. In fact, all the mentions of rock were positive, even from people who voted against the track.

I stick to my original hypothesis.

South Bridge got my vote partly due to the novelty factor in it's opening round. It's still an ok song, but it's too damn textbook to make it in the long haul. Plus Undersea Palace is a gem.

Cheers.
Music is a mysterious thing. Sometimes it makes people remember things they do not expect. Many thoughts, feelings, memories... things almost forgotten... Regardless of whether the listener desires to remember or not.

I would have had a difficult choice had Chocolate Outline made it -- similar to my inability to decide between the staggeringly good Battle III and Undersea Palace.

With two exceptional tracks eliminated and one Mitsuda standout remaining, the choice is easy.

Undersea Palace is a cool (even awesome) song, but I still can't help feeling disappointed that the best jazz song in the contest (and one of my favorites) is going to be knocked out in round 2. Ah well.

Ciao.
Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):

Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?
Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros.

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

What else do I listen to?
