I like 'Beneath the Surface', but somehow I really hate the insertion of Frog's Theme from Chrono Trigger. It just feels... unnatural.

Time Preserved ~ AprilShowers is pleasant, but unremarkable.

A Hero's Judgement is decent. I don't really like the wah on the guitar in the middle, and the sound quality makes in unpleasant in a couple of places, but overall it's a nice arrangement.

I love Haitenai Densetsu just for the concept alone of arranging Mushihimesama's music to ROCK. Shinju Heading to the Forest -stage 1- sounds like standard MintJam most of the time, except for the parts where the Namiki shows through. Which only make the track better.

Beneath The Surface is sexy.

Heading to the Forest is a winning arrangement just on its own. That it reminds me of the better music selections from recent entries in the MegaTen series is just that much of a bonus.

Here's one of the rare failings of the format. Three very good songs, one gets left behind. Shinju deserves a better fate.

I approached my nominations in the form of a quota: I wanted to include at least one track from a list of ten composers. Yasunori Shiono was the hardest spot to fill, which is too bad as his Lufia music is terrific fodder for arrangements. This is a soft and piano-led version of one of my favorite themes from the series, and fills the Shiono slot proudly.

049 - Time & Space - A Hero's Judgement
This vocorder version of the oft-covered courtroom tune tries to be as off-kilter as the original, and I can't decide if it's completely successful or an abject failure.

092 - Kong in Concert - Beneath The Surface
Not the biggest fan of the source material, but this loungy, jazzy version isn't half bad.

250 - Haitenai Densetsu - Shinju Heading to the Forest -stage 1-
It has its moments, mostly when the high synthy notes kick in.

I've got to stick with my nom, though it's probably too low-key to have much of a chance.

Good execution and nice atmosphere, but it's also very momentary.

049 - Time & Space - A Hero's Judgement
Some interesting approach, but I didn't really like the instrument playing the melody.

092 - Kong in Concert - Beneath The Surface
Awesome source material, but this didn't really improved on it IMO, makes it even slower. Good for ambience I guess.

250 - Haitenai Densetsu - Shinju Heading to the Forest -stage 1-
doh, cool setzer-guitar, but I think this is downgrade of the original. The melody is just one thing.

049 A Hero's Judgement was way too loosely put together. Lacked a lot of polish; kind of surprised it's from that album.

Yeah, IMO 250 - Haitenai Densetsu - Shinju Heading to the Forest -stage 1- suffered from the bracketing, because I also thought it was a really cool track. Dunno the original, so I can't corroborate Djinova's opinion; definitely interested in hearing the original since this one was so good. If this one had a little more going on in the background to fill it out, it could have been a tougher choice. Up against "Beneath the Surface" though, that's extremely tough competition.
