A hella tough pairing there too. A rawking track from a tune I don't know (Always Together, Surely Together), a pretty nice cover of a tune I absolutely love (You're Not Alone!) and the best ever arranged version (imo) of another beloved tune that happens to be one of my noms. Awesome solo combo gets the vote heh ~

: 077 - ToHeart2 Arranged - Always Together, Surely Together
: 123 - OCRemix - Waltz of Pain
: 013 Last battle
: 186 - Project Majestic Mix Gold Edition - You're Not Alone!

You're Not Alone! is an okay cover. Nothing mindblowing by any measure, but pleasant to listen to, riding the strength of the source.

Last battle could be epic, but there's just too much about it that I don't like. 1:50-1:58 with the guitar squeaks is annoying. The organ solo starting at 3:07 is pretty weak, with funky timing in a couple of places. I've never liked the "okay let's go to silence and then start up a completely different song," but that's just a personal issue. Shredding is pretty decent, I will most graciously grant.

Waltz of Pain's arrangement is niiiice. Performance is pretty good also. I always expect the song to end around 3:32 or so, but it has a bunch more of the same stuff after that point.

Always together, surely together is so cheesy. Seriously, those synth hits at the beginning, goddamn. Awesome.
I got more moves than a U-Haul.

Waltz of Pain deserves a vote because it is decent, but it won't come from me.

013 Last battle
I'm starting to get sick of tracks that start off slow and deceptive before kicking into a totally different style after thirty seconds. That gripe aside, this is actually a pretty decent arrangement of one of the better tunes in the Fantasie Final oeuvre. Like the harpsichord from nowhere, hate the spasms that follow.

077 Always Together, Surely Together
The opening of this tune intensely reminds me of a mainstream song, but I can't remember its title. Maybe "You Can Call Me Al?" It has a nice 80's feel, but I couldn't remember a lick of it once it was finished.

123 Waltz of Pain
More piano. This particular arrangement is a little thin, a little weak. It might have something to do with the source tune, which was never a favorite.

186 You're Not Alone!
In 2000, I thought the original was the coolest song ever. Six BSC's and countless remixes and compliations later, my ardor has cooled a bit. This one's okay, but it didn't really click with me.

Waltz of Pain really is decent; I will donate a point to it in Chuckster's name

Sounds a heck of a lot like Van Halen's "Jump" to me.

But despite sounding a lot like 80's pop music (or possibly because of that reason?), the cheesy sounding Always Together, Surely Together gets my vote.
Why didn't he just...

Not a bad track, had two convincing sections.

077 - ToHeart2 Arranged - Always Together, Surely Together
H-game revolution. Even arranged does it sound like that: light and fun.

123 - OCRemix - Waltz of Pain
Nice composition and performance, which dissolves a bit towards the end. I kinda blame it on gaining as well, that some power/volume is lost.

186 - Project Majestic Mix Gold Edition - You're Not Alone!
I thought this was meh, doesn't really set itself apart from the original, though yes it sounds very nice nonetheless.

If Waltz of Pain had been on a real piano, it would have been deadly. Agreed to CHz on it dragging a bit though. Pretty solid sampled piano all things considered. So of the more exposed note decays near the end sounded pretty weak, but I liked it. Definitely suffered from the MP3gain.

"Last Battle" and "Always Together, Surely Together" were well made, especially the style of Van Halen's "Jump", but they didn't speak to me on any level.

Voting after the poll close: 186 You're Not Alone!
