I tried to get into this ambient mix, but there seemed to be something out of place. The interaction between the drums strings seemed a bit uneven, which kind of of took me out the whole thing. That aside, this is still a good track, with the string parts holding the whole thing together quite well. 161 - Metal Kombat for the Mortal Man - Red Wings Over Baron A good Final Fantasy IV megamix. Guitar work is pretty good but the supporting synth is a bit weak. The best part of this track was the guitar for the dungeon theme, which really gives the section a distant, almost bluesy feel that is a perfect match for the melody. 169 - Final Doom - Clairvoyant Elegy Wow, this is great. Great piano work and spacious, atmospheric synth combine to create a really smooth mix that is memorable from beginning to end. I don't know what the source sounded like, but I love how the piano gives it an sad, almost heroic feel. 176 - The Elegy of the Battle - Full Metal Fighter Decent metal cover, but nothing stood out as being overly impressive about it. |
: 096 - OCRemix - Cerebral Rose Jam : 169 - Final Doom - Clairvoyant Elegy : 176 - The Elegy of the Battle - Full Metal Fighter : 161 - Metal Kombat for the Mortal Man - Red Wings Over BaronThe development in Red Wings Over Baron seemed pretty random, even for a medley. Decent material, though. My favorite part is the same one that Excrono mentioned. M.U.S.H.A. + Sword of Justice can only bring good things, and Full Metal Fighter follows through. Pretty straightforward cover, but good stuff. Clairvoyant Elegy hits the groove bias very well. Sexy piano work by Bladiator dropped onto TO's nice backbone give this one all the chill you'll ever need. I felt absolutely awful that I didn't nominate anything by Israfel, but luckily this little beauty showed up. Shows off his wonderful creativity: Arabian and jazz for an epic combination. Excellent ambient soundscape. Love it. |

I like the ethnic feel here, and I was waiting for it to break out into a full Arabian world music jam. Sadly, it was not to be. 161 Red Wings Over Baron The opening has a nice rock opera feel, and is the strongest part. The others are okay, but the transitions are really abrupt and really ratchet down the pizazz to become much more standard rock arrangements. 169 Clairvoyant Elegy I don't even remember there being music in Final Doom, but that might have something to do with the fact that I was running it on a crappy computer with crappier speakers. Really like the piano work here, which works with the synths to create a dark, but still jazzy, atmosphere. 176 Full Metal Fighter Simply not my thing. Pass the ibuprofin, please. Clairvoyant Elegy is head and shoulders above the rest here. Piano bias & etc. ![]() 2008 NaNoWriMo Word Count: 33004/50000 |

Cerebral Rose Jam might be the best new thing I have heard in this contest so far. I cannot remember the last time I was so amazed by a song that seemed to be doing so little. It has an amazing atmosphere to it, and lots of subtleties to add some character.

Effective ambience, but I'm afraid it was a bit too minimalistic for me, as shown when it dived down sometimes. 161 - Metal Kombat for the Mortal Man - Red Wings Over Baron Of one the better rockings. Multifaceted themes led to varied composition. Solid 2nd. 169 - Final Doom - Clairvoyant Elegy Active ambience and lots of piano. I very like. 176 - The Elegy of the Battle - Full Metal Fighter I simply don't feel much when I listen to this. Sure has stuff going on though. |

I nommed this, and it's an amazing track. A very sophisticated arrangement when compared with the source. Count it.
