You bastards. After so many match-ups where we've been forced to choose between the lesser of two evils, one comes along where I really like both tunes.
Initially I thought I'd definitely go for Apollo 440. I love the Goonies (Who doesn't) but I don't normally like soundtrack pieces outside the context of the film. Then I listened to the Goonies again and thought that actually, I could happily listen to this on my iPod on the train with a big fucking grin on my face. Stop the Rock is a great big beat tune but not in the same league as the best big beat stuff (Fatboy Slim, the Freestylers, Indian Rope Man, etc etc) and although I'd love it to progress, I'm going to have to vote for the Goonies. |

Hmm, The Goonies Main Theme actually tries to some extent to take on Neoclassical affectations, which is interesting in itself.
I'm not too keen on the other song though. Again, something that may be better served by removing the vocals. ![]() Classic J-Pop Volume 22 |

Actually kind of like both of these tracks. The Goonies is a classic, Apollo 440 is fun to listen to once in a while. Hm, flip a coin really, but you can't truffle shuffle to Apollo 440, so I guess I'm going goonies.

The first track was cheese. I don't even know what the heck goonies is. Sounds like the theme for a kid's cartoon show.
The second track wasn't nearly as bad but it was still terrible. It was just a mess that wasn't going anywhere. |
I look around and I wonder how many of you kids in this contest escaped from a closed-environment religious cult. Having said that, I like Apollo Four Forty but I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE The Goonies. This was no contest for me. |

At first, I thought this was Cyndi Lauper's "Goonies R Good Enough" but with credit given to the song's heretofor unknown writer. Sadly it was just the opening score, which isn't what I had my heart set upon. The score isn't really bad but in this case I felt like I'd been served salad after having been promised steak.
On the other hand, "Stop the Rock", while hardly a surprise, is still pretty rad. |

Chunk is dancing like Madonna.
edit: I'm with Shin all the way. Listening to this song just puts a big stupid grin on my face. Stop the Rock is catchy, but no match for such a heavy wave of nostalgia.

Well, that, or you could use your set of logical deduction skills to determine that, hey, this probably has something to do with one of these songs! Once at this junction, the next step would be to figure out which of the two it's referring to. A simple way, I've found, is to click the numbers on the top poll, thus revealing a list of who's voted for whom. Seeing as my name appears next to the "Goonies Main Theme", and the nature of my post, the image would then most likely be a reference to said song, or, since it's a theme from a movie, said movie. Most would leave it at this, but I like to thoroughly exhaust my ends, so next I would hover my mouse pointer over the aforementioned .GIF image, right click and check the image's properties. And, ah yes, we've struck gold! A full, detailed file-name! Entering the terms from the file name to a web search would be enough on its own, but with all the information we've gathered already, deciphering the inner meaning of my post is a cinch.
Hope this helps. |
