The other song, hey, it's that tune from that awesome pairing in round number 4  I hope it rots.Not a good pairing for round five. I am disappointed. |

The only Shatner song that should ever be heard for more than half a second is his rendition of Mr. Tambourine Man. And that's just because not only is he terrible, but the arrangement is as well.

The fact you're still bitching about Mr. Tambourine Man 40 years after the fact just shows you haven't really listened to his most recent album. He got Joe Jackson in on it for fuck's sake. Critical acclaim for a reason. It's easy to bitch because yes, it's Captain Kirk, but fucking christ, Captain Kirk made a good album. How great is that? It's barely even music. It's psychotic ranting with a beatnik line for atmosphere. It has some lol value but musically, it's rice paper.
I dig Shatner as a person. I dig Rollins as an orator. I even dig Rollins' music. Put some Black Flag in this competition. I could get behind that. But you go ahead and drop those names! Ben Folds. He didn't actually sing or play an instrument on this track, but whatever. That's fine. So, next time you speak out against a song I like, the fair defense will be to reveal the producer's identity so as to stifle all naysaying. There is obviously no recourse from the knowledge that although a song is horrendous and without musical merit, this was purely by design thanks to the immaculate vision of  the producer!C'mon, if your only other bit of defense is my geographic location, which is absurdly irrelevant to anything in this thread, it's rather apparent that my original point stands and you've failed to defend your precious joke track. Because the song isn't shit. And neither is the album. Crash wants to hate on it purely for being Shat, but the fact that it's Shat AND good is damned impressive.

I listened to the song too. Thought it was kinda dumb, said so. People got butthurt because I had an opinion. Like I've never had one of those before. Deni, you insulting my hometown was just silly. Rotorblade, telling me to shut the fuck up for having a differing opinion? Priceless. (Also, lol at you coming back to this thread. You're not fooling anyone, you know.)
