Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):

Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?
Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros.

Currently playing: Nothing

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

What else do I listen to?

Runabout - Space Crickets
They promised crickets, and by God crickets there were. However, some space was promised too, and that was delivered as well if you spell "space" S-U-R-F. The SFX were annoying, and the music hardly very original, but this sort of surf music is always a fun and lovable listen.

Skies of Arcadia - Military Facility Dungeon
Lotsa Cajun spice in the BSC this year. One of the less-known songs from the album, but with a healthy helping of its general sound. Pretty good, even if there are better choices from the OST.

Space crickets-
Charming at first, but it's so repetitive. It started grating really fast. :-(

Military facility dungeon-
In this case, it's not amazingly engaging, but doesn't grate on me at all. The beats are pretty decent, and there are a few melodic ideas in the strings that are nice. Easy vote.

Two pretty good tracks, but I found Space Crickets to be a little too confusing. Military Facility Dungeon isn't a hardcore track either, but unlike, Space Crickets, it actually goes somewhere.

Military Facility Dungeon is corny as hell, and I'm actually digging it a bit. It has that out of place beat that's similar to that other Arcadia tune a number of rounds back, but it seems to fit better here.

Space Crickets is so much fun, despite every aspect of it being terrible.

Yup, you got it! I though "oh dear god no" when I heard "Space Crickets"'s surf rock crap, but then I just stopped judging the song based on that and was actually really entertained. I thought, given the track title, we'd be given some spaceyXorganic ambience, which I was prepared before. Quite the opposite, however. Pretty crap, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

I don't know what to think of "Military Facility Dungeon". It's serious and cheesy at the same time. Like final dungeon music serious. I'm not sure whether I like it, but as a whole, this piece is pretty decent. The orchestration's nice and the numerous developments keep me interested somewhat.

"Space Crickets" - 8/10
"Military Facility Dungeon" - 6.5/10

IT'S SURF. I think that sums up exactly what Space Crickets is. Is this a bad thing? NO BECAUSE IT'S ALSO THE GOOD KIND OF CHEESE. I'm dancing a little in my chair, if you must know.

What the hell are you talking about Cajun? This is straightforward semi-orchestral BGM. Ugh. Don't wanna vote for it. SO CHEESY SURF IT IS.

Once I got over the shock (in a good way) of Space Crickets turning out to be Ventures-esque surf rock, the appeal slowly wore off as the track dragged.

Military Dungeon Facility may be considered a tad cliche, but you can't deny its energy, urgent without being URGENT (which is a big plus).

: Runabout - Space Crickets

Military Facility Dungeon is hilarious. The beats, the flautist standing far right out in the hallway having a seizure, this is fantastic.

Space Crickets is even more amazing, though. The random sound effects and vocal clip are just the icing on the cake. Guitar and drum solos keep things awesome to the max. I want both of these to move on just so I have something to laugh at next round when I get depressed at what actually moved on to the next round.

Military Facility Dungeon isn't a standout track, but it's good and it echoes some of the motifs and instrumentation I enjoy on the album. I like it.

Space Crickets has the surf rock style down good, but it loses me along the way.
