Well I went to work on my two cities for today and I was in for a shock. I deleted the year 40 gamingforce folder on my comp, put 50 in its place. Both of my cities have reverted back to year 20. Unless someone has a copy of my year 50 cities, I will have to drop out.

Lake Tsunami
Emo Lot 42 Emo was an interesting project. For starters, things were a bit grim. There was high density in a very low developed area. This is old town. I replaced most of the high density for low except for a few that I forgot. The problem was it was dirty and really inefficient. I killed a lot of the industry zoning and expanded the agriculture sector just to get farmer's market. I ended up keeping the farms there but I wasn't planning on developing near there for a while. I expanded west around year 12 with a very low density maze of street. I liked how it came out. The only problem I have with that area was the fact a lot of old sims lived there. But little traffic and it is very spacy. Then started developing north across the river. I went more medium density to give it a variance against the south side. Plus it gave a decent boost to my population which ended up taking till year 25 to break 10,000. I kept some open spaces around, and continued with my mazes of streets. So about 50% of the map is developed. There are only 2 areas where I used high density commerce: the old town that I forgot to rezone and this one intersection in the medium sector. I'll post pictures in a little. And I do need to work out connections with the neighbors. I have rails and roads. No highways. |
I do have your year 40 cities, however. I uploaded those and I'm giving you a bye for this week so you can catch up next week. I'll start getting everything collected in an hour or so. So far I don't have: el jacko, RABicle Also, in theory the FTP should be working. However, DynDNS has to be "under maintenance" while my connection is stable. Going to ae2t.no-ip.com will give my current IP address (this is updated automatically by the router, I believe, so it will be as accurate as fast as no-ip updates.) ![]() [ Larry "Pixy" Foulke ]

Okay, here are my cities. I'll talk about what I want planned that would require some other people's cooperation later.

I'm pretty busy this week with finals and on Saturday I'm helping some friends move, but I should be able to catch completely up with everything on Sunday.

2060 cities
2070 due in a week, as usual (I'll give the people who haven't sent in their stuff yet a day or two before I mark them to be placed inactive.) ![]() [ Larry "Pixy" Foulke ] |

Here are my cities at 2060. Sorry about being late, I kept forgetting to run them forward.

I'm starting to dislike these boom/bust cycles. I was fine with going medium wealth, and now all these rich people moving in my cities is cramping my expenses. Maybe I really need to make a big shanty of a poor town to get low wealth to move in.

I would have to demolish a small part of my city to install some ferry stops along my coast but I think I can manage installing some.
As for highways, I would have to do more demolishing but I could also expand the highway I have in place in Farbanti to join the other cities around me if everyone wants to build a large one connecting north and south. ![]() [ Sebastion Hackenberg ] |

Well I now see the challenges of mass transit in a new light. Staying mostly low/medium density doesn't give my sims much of an alternative for mass transit. Average commute time is about 10 minutes on a large map. Something just feels awry with that. A lot of people are using buses but trains are lagging. I guess that was due to an influx of jobs in my own city. At least 6000 people were commuting out. Now it barely trickles out. Hard times I say.
As for a highway, the way my Emo is laid out, it is very impractical to even consider it. Maybe when commute times hit 75 minutes (if that ever happens) |
The avenues in Deville, Junction and Cliftown appear to already be lined up. Just change to highway, have everyone else join in the fun, and there's the west-east highway. |
|
I was thinking about taking the spot under Junction (next to Pelsia,) to extend the highway in Pelsia. It wouldn't be hard at all to connect to Junction at all.
So I'll take 30, especially considering I've been neglecting Sticksville, as I have not a fucking clue what to do with it. ![]() [ Larry "Pixy" Foulke ] |
