GFF is a hellhole full of elitists who chat about everything EXCEPT games. We have a team of dedicated moderators who will ban your ass on the slightest provocation, constant member-organized activities that you are not allowed to participate in, and plenty of custom features, including our unique journal system where you can post entries that will be completely ignored. If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ or our GFWiki. You will have to register before you can post. Although membership is completely free (and gets rid of the pesky advertisement unit underneath this message) we do not recommend that you sign up, because you will get kicked in the nuts repeatedly.

Gamingforce Community SimCity 4 Region Project
As I had brought up in this journal entry here, I brought up the idea setting up a community project where everyone could work on developing a region in SimCity 4.
After some discussion in my journal and elsewhere, I've decided to make it public. This thread will be used for the overall discussion of the project. The Purpose To have an entirely GFF created SimCity 4 region. It is not meant to be competitive, or even meant to have a defined finish date. Instead, I wish to focus more on cooperation, with eventually everyone needing to work together and come to agreements about neighbor connections and deals. Yeah, it sounds really corny now, but when it all starts coming together, you'll really need to! You are encouraged to be as creative as possible when working on your city. You can experiment with different things within the game, even experiment with some of extra "puzzle pieces" in the NetworkAddon Mod. Reporting your progress in this thread is also encouraged, and you can also get creative in this aspect. If you want to screenshot your progress, go right ahead! If you need help or have any questions while playing the game, you can ask them right here, and someone will be able to help. It does sound really interesting.
I think a random region would be cooler, 'cause first of all, you know all the city edges will line up the way they're supposed to. Secondly, I always thought it was a bit more fun to make a natural, more organic city. It was a bit more challenging to work within the bounds of nature, but ultimately more satisfying as a result. I guess lot distribution could go by randomization or by choice, I think both would be alright. Randomization, again, seems a little more exciting because you don't know until the beginning what kind of limitations you'll have to work around. ![]() This is the third "Your Sanctuary" location. But it's mine now. Take it from me, if you dare... |

I LOVE Simcity 4 so I will sign up for this. I hope my version of Windows will work with the game. Anyway, sign me on!

Count me in!!! ...After I free up enough space to download and install the damn game.
Don't worry, Shonos. I suck too. Hey, I hope you won't mind me deleting my cities a few times until I get the hang of SC4. Can I work with a nice smallish map? I doubt I'd be able to build giant cities with my skills. Oh, and my wrists hurt, so don't yell at me if I don't post an update :( Week 8 My Backloggery "Our ratings will rise by 60% ... no, 70% at least!"

But remember, this isn't about making the largest city, it's more about developing a region. If you can't build a giant metropolis, that's quite alright and encouraged, small towns and farming communities are easily capable in the game and would add a lot of variety to the region. ![]() HURF DURF |

I feel kinda bad that I couldn't participate in the GFF Risk (Due to a busy schedule), so I'll make up
by engaging in this! Sign me up! ... Now I gotta go find that DVD-R with Sim City 4 on it >_> |

I couldn't find the CD, so I will be DLing the torrent. Thanks for the link. Yes, I'm sure to put in some practice first before I start the project for good.
I'm hoping to make a cute little city with lots of wide open spaces, like a giant park for animals :3 I'm off to do other things now. CIAO. (I thought Chow was a slang word )P.S. if I end up loving the game, I'd be buying it. Week 8 My Backloggery "Our ratings will rise by 60% ... no, 70% at least!"

God. It's ciao. Don't use foreign words if you don't know what they are, furry. You desecrate Sam and Max.
Anyway, yeah, I'd be up for this. I'll have to blow the dust off the old CD, but I could be bothered for a nice little community event like this. ![]() And though we are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are--- One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. |

I've expressed my interest in this in your journal, so count me in.

This sounds like a really fun idea! I am currently "attempting" to get Simcity 4 for mac...probably won't work out but if it does, I'd surely like to contribute.
On proposed limitations of design...I would leave the layout of the city to the imagination of the individual. Putting restrictions on what people can or are supposed to do seems a little creatively stifling. Half the fun of simcity is seeing how each person designs their city differently. It says a lot about them. I honestly don't think it would be as much fun to place any limitations on structure and design.
