ribs

I cannot get into these. Sometimes the flavor will be good, but generally there just isn't a lot of meat. It isn't worth it. I don't want to work around something, making a mess just to devour the equivalent of two meatballs. I'll just get a steak of something if I actually want meat, not ribs.

To all who swear by these things, explain yourselves.

I'm not an insane fan of ribs, but if you cook em yourself they aren't that expensive. I guess ribs just have a more sauce to meat ratio?...or are juicy for something from a bbq? I have no idea.

Hm...I don't like beef ribs, because generally they're huge in size, but mostly fat and crap I don't like. I prefer pork ribs and/or whatever "riblets" are... they serve them at Applebees and similar places.

However, the principal thing I like is indeed the "sauce-to-meat ratio," because normally the sauce on meat is only on the outside and once you get deeper, you don't get the same flavor. I suppose you could just smear sauce all over each bite, but there's something more satisfying about ribs.
How could you be so heartless?

Good ribs are awesome and hard to find. Bad ribs are abundant and leave me disgusted. I really don't go as much for BBQ sauce with ribs. Rub and seasoning and a nice smoking can really make ribs fairly appetizing.

Yes. Most of the time I try to avoid ribs as well. I never get filled up (unless there's huge side dishes to go along with it or it's an all you can eat special). I suppose Tony Roma's has the best ribs I can think of though, if you've got the money to spend.

The same goes for boned buffalo wings. I have no idea why people get these most of the time unless they're drinking or as an appetizer, but I've seen people order this as an entree and well, I don't get it. Though the other night I was at applebees (hadn't eaten anything all day) and it was happy hour, which meant all appetizers were half off and light beers were $1.25 a mug. I ordered their boneless buffalo wing plate and a cold one (their mugs are awesome and super frosted cold). Needless to say, 11 beers later I was stuffed, drunk, and almost started a fight with some dude who was hitting on a waitress. I stumbled into and knocked over their specials sign on the way out and had to be carried out by a couple of the guys I was jamming with that day. It was fun as heck.

I highly recommend Guinness-marinated boar ribs (kudos to Niekon).

My dad cooks ribs every so often, and they are pretty amazing. They have LOTS of meat on them, and they are really soft and easy to get off of the bone, and I think the messy part is the most fun. I guess it just depends on what you get; my dad gets babyback ribs, and like I said, they are awesome.

I marinate my ribs for 3 hours in Captain Morgans rum and then rub them in this cinnamon/Pappy's/lemon pepper rub. Cook for about an hour in the oven and .

No, it's to tenderize the meat.

well, i guess in comparison to meatballs, it feels more like you're eating REAL meat, not mashed-up beef or whatever else would be in meatballs. just pure meat with bbq sauce..mmm. of course, that's my opinion.
