I usually stay up until 4 or 5 am, and miraculously I feel sufficiently rested at 7 am when I wake up. Not that I don't like sleeping, but I also have things that need doing that wouldn't happen if I went to bed at a more "normal" time like 10 or 11 pm. When my entire day is consumed with work and school, I need some sort of time to unwind, and sleeping would just doesn't do much good in breaking up the otherwise overwhelming monotony.

I'm so envious of your sleeping pattern BeamAlpha~
I consistently go to bed around 12:30 or 1:00am, but then I actually don't fall asleep until two hours later. I don't know what keeps me up, but it's been like that for a while. And these past few ... weeks I've been waking up when the sun rises which is about 5-6. It sucks because I can't fall asleep nicely, and I don't receive any quality sleep. It's been like this for a while. With some lost hours, sometimes I grab a nap, sometimes I don't. |

I have pretty bad sleeping patterns this summer. I go to bed at around 1 AM earliest and have to get up at 6:30 to go to work. As for the weekends, I sleep in until noon. During the school semester it's not any better. I regularly go to bed around 2 AM or 3 AM then must get up at 8 AM for class. I still get up around 9-10 AM on weekends.

If I've got a routine going for the next few days I'm ok, but otherwise I end up entering this weird phenomenon too, I think it's because nearly everyone here including myself has interesting foreign contacts living in different timezones. You just find yourself hanging around to talk to them, but the 4am bird chirping thing you never get used to that... so personally I'm at least trying to avoid not sleeping until then any more.

I got back after a three week jaunt in the middle of nowhere and immediately got sick, so I basically slept for two days straight while I recovered. The next week, I slept about 12 hours a day, and then when I wasn't sick anymore, I didn't sleep for about 3 days. So now, my circadian rhythm whatever internal clock is probably broken, so I'm staying up all night to try and get myself back into a quasi normal sleeping schedule.

I don't think I've ever had a normal sleeping pattern ever since high school.
Currently I'm working at a job in which my day can start anytime between 5 and 8 in the morning and my shift ends anywhere between 5 and 8 in the night, a lot of times I pull all nighters just to get the mass amounts of paperwork done. Even on my days off I'm still up all night, because basically its the only time during an entire 24 hour period in which I can give myself a little down time. It would be nice to work a job that would give me a normal sleep pattern, but unfortunately that ain't going to happen anytime soon. I guess I've always been a night owl, especially in university where I use to sleep all day, and try to set up my courses either in the early morning or late afternoon/evening. So I could stay up all night when everyone was asleep so I could get all my work done when I lived in university residence. I've always been use to it, but eventually I'll get back to a normal sleeping pattern, I would like to wake up with a lot more energy and in time it definetely will happen. ![]() |

Back when I was younger, I had terrible sleeping patterns, but that was mostly my fault. I can still remember spending hours upon hours on the old Playstation, playing through Resident Evil 2 for the sixth time and getting The Tofu Survivor, which was a fantastic waste of time since you can't kill anything but there's so much in the way...
Anyway, going to bed at 5-6 AM during the weekends was not an uncommon practice. It certainly made getting ready to go back to school harder, but I made it through all right. Now, I have terrible sleeping patterns which mostly AREN'T my fault. Throughout the week, the shifts where I work never start at the same time. You'll have people that do their 9 to 5 thing, and that's pretty routine, but one day I'll have to be there by 10 AM and the very next day, I'll have to be there by like 5 AM. On top of the erratic schedule, my body is still trying to get used to the obscene amounts of caffiene contained within the Hydroxycuts I take, regardless of how early in the day I last took them. Thankfully, the magic of having a part-time job is that I don't work every day in the week. There are times where I get three days in a row off, so I basically use those days to catch up on sleep, so it all works out, I suppose.

Sorry to bump an old topic.
Looking to get a job soon so thought it would be a good thing to get a rhythm going. I'm a pretty bad sleeper, sometimes I sleep fine throughout the night but often I wake up and it takes me ages to get back to sleep, usually because of the worry of how i'll feel the next day. Well anyway, I figured 7:30 would be a good time to wake up, as this will probably be the time I need to get up if I was to work over the summer. I did my first one today, slept around around 11:30pm to midnight, woke up about 5ish though and couldn't get back to sleep, so I figured i'd get up around 7ish. I feel surprisingly good though. My dad sleeps very few hours, like 4 hours a night, and he's fine with it, well, as far as I know. I think i'll have to keep going with this schedule to get a good rhythm going, as i've heard it's the best way, to wake up the same time no matter how much you sleep.

I have been a night worker for 2 years, and I never really had problems sleepin.
If you guys have problems, consider an afternoon nap. 30 min at most, and it will beneit you the most. or, if you plan to stay awake all night, sleep 2-3 hours in the afternoon |

Wow. This is an old topic.
The same thing happens to me, though; the earlier I fall to sleep, the sooner I seem to wake up. I get 4 hours of sleep sometimes. But unfortunately, it is not sufficient enough for me. I usually end up going back to sleep in 5 or 6 hours. So, I have some ludicrous sleeping habits.

After the first while of feeling tired (although surprisingly no where near as much as I thought I would), and getting over the cold I get every time I wake up early (god knows why, I had nose problems when I was younger) I felt surprisingly better as the day went on, and full of energy, much more than usual.
I was expecting to feel the opposite to be honest, more tired and crappy ![]() Maybe a good sign. Also got my CV handed in, finally ![]()

My sleeping has been quite strange these days. Probably because it's the summer. I usually sleep from 3-5 AM and wake up at 11 am. Hopefully my sleeping patterns turn back to normal when school starts (or even before school starts). It's kinda a bummer waking up late and it feels like half the day is wasted.

Where we live trains go by often plus things have just been changing so much since moving to maine and coming here to texas and the fact that I'm being haunted at the moment for god knows what reason which isn't helping. Then we have a laptop that my sister uses alot and whenever I want to watch a movie or one my tv show dvd's I don't get to put them in till about 10pm or so. And I toss around in my sleep.
