Bad sleeping patterns.

Lately I've been having alot of free time being between jobs.(Of my own choosing though.) And I have a bad habit of sitting up untill I fall asleep in the pc chair this has led to me not being able to sleep untill 4-5 in the morning. Which(SP?) as you can imagine is abit of a pain trying to forcefully go to sleep at normal hours now but not going so good.

So anyhow else here living nocturnal?

Hmm, that's exactly how I've been lately. There is someone I want to talk to on MSN, but they're only on late at night, and my friends have been on later too playing games and such with me until 4am. The last hour would be spent chatting or something of that sort before I sleep.

It feels rather weird, going to sleep when you start to hear the birds chirp, probably not a good thing, that and waking up at 2pm or so.
Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt.

I hear you guys, I tried to remedy this problem just recently by staying up all night then just continuing on the next day as if I got sleep. I got my pattern back to a 12am-9am schedule until I was rudely woken up at 4am this morning and couldn't go back to bed until 7 so I ended up sleeping in until 2pm. So thus I'm sure I'll be up all night again.

Yep, I was in the same sleep pattern a couple of weeks ago. I fell asleep around 3-4 am. The way I fixed it was I woke up at 7 am one day so I was able to fall asleep around midnight that day. I've tried staying up all night before to achieve the same thing, but I always end up falling asleep way too early and messing up my sleep schedule even more. The key is getting that 3 to 4 hours of sleep to be able to make it to midnight where you can reset your sleep schedule.

I'm ill as hell and the medicine I'm taking keeps me up at night and exhausts me during the day. Consequently I've been up 'til 5 for the past few nights. Days? Mornings.

I'm nocturnal. For months I've been sleeping around 6am to around noon.

Two reasons. I have some computer work I have to do and for some reason I work better at night. The other reason is for chatting with my girlfriend overseas.

But I'm an easy sleeper. I can sleep anytime I want. Lucky me!

My girlfriend, however has trouble sleeping at times. Her inability to sleep is beyond my understanding as I rarely have any trouble with it.

I work from 2-11, so the only time I really have to do anything is after work, so I tend to stay up until 4 or 5 in the morning and sleep until around 1 PM.

I need to get into the habit of waking up a lot earlier if I'm gonna be able to survive training for the Air Force. =/

I've always had pretty bad insomnia and have been subject to very random and annoying sleeping patterns. I'm more than used to it by now, so lack of sleep doesn't really bother me all that much. I usually just resort to sleeping aids if I really need to fix my sleep or can't stand being up any longer. I do have to say that I enjoy being up during the night more than the day. Oddly enough it feels more natural and comfortable.

Since I work retail, my schedule is always pretty unpredictable. When I'm off, I tend to sleep in until around noon and stay awake well into the night. When I work again, I have to try and manage sleeping at a decent time so I can be awake. It's tough.

I have no discernable sleeping patterns at all. I alternate almost nightly between going to bed at say 11pm and waking up at 12pm, staying up until four or five and waking up at half eight, and during the catch-up days I tend to nap. It would explain the almost constant feeling of jet-lag I have. I've no idea why my sleep is so erratic though.

a couple more for breakfast/ a little more for tea/ just to take the edge off/ just to take the edge off

I basically sleep from 10PM until 6AM every day, give or take an hour on either end. I don't have trouble falling asleep or waking up, and I try to keep things in order.

I think the way our bodies handle sleep has a lot to do with our health in general. In areas not having anything to do with actual sleep.

Heh I have royally screwed up my sleeping patterns recently these holidays. Been waking up at midnight and sleeping at 1PM.

I think I did something wrong yes? lol

Heck I should go visit the other side of the world. I would have a perfect sleeping pattern then.

I keep a pretty good sleeping pattern while I'm at school, but since summer has hit, I've been pretty bad about getting up before noon. Before this past week, I'd stay up until 4am or so, sleep until 1pm. This past week though, I went on vacation (and the GFFNE Meet, woot), and I didnt want to waste one of the best parts of the day sleeping, so my ability to get up earlier was used. I've been getting to bed around midnight now, waking up before noon. Hoping this pattern will stick for a while.

For the past year, I've been sleeping from about midnight until 6-6:30 in the morning for my teaching job..

Unfortunately, teacher's don't have alot of work to do during the summer..so now my sleep schedule is all akimbo on me. I've pretty much taken to sleeping during the day, which is fine, but the girlfriend doesn't seem to think along the same lines. I'm trying to reset my schedule now..hopefully I won't pass out.

Ever since I started my job almost a year ago, I've been sleeping around 3-4am, though it's gone as late as 5am once in a while, usually because I'm busy doing some work, watching shows, playing games, and/or talking to someone. My alarm starts going off at 6am, and I'll wake up at some point before 7am as I snooze it every 5 minutes a couple times.

Sometimes I'll sleep a little bit during my commute to work since I take the subway, and my commute is about an hour and a half each way. I'll also take a nap at work sometimes too if I'm still somehow tired; so I get enough sleep for myself, which comes out to about 4 hours a day.

I've always said that I was a vampire .
I come from a fairly nocturnal family...my mom has always been a "night owl," as is her mom. It's been a tradition for as long as I remember for my mom and I to bake until 3-4am around Christmastime; I think the song "Night Baking" was written for us .

Whenever I'm not in school (or any other situation that imposes a required rising hour), I don't fall asleep until 3-4am. When I was younger, this was because I really didn't feel inspired to draw until midnight and later.

I don't like going to bed at 4am and waking up at noon, though. I actually enjoy having all morning to screw around, then do stuff in the afternoon.

To 'reset' your inner alarm clock, all you have to do is force yourself awake before 10am and sit outside for 10-15 minutes and allow the natural sunlight to hit your eyelids. This reprograms your inner ability to wake up "with the sun." And no, this isn't some crackpot thing -- my doctor told me to do that when I was having problems going to sleep before 4am. It was also confirmed by my psychology professor.

Hmm... my work schedule can also be quite erratic. The Starbucks I work for opens at 5AM, so I have to be there at quarter of on days that I open. But then it's highly likely that the next day I won't have to be in to work until 2PM for a close.

So, some days I find myself going to bed at 8PM and other days I'm going to bed at 2AM. My sleeping habits are pretty thrashed...but I always manage to take a nap here and there to keep myself going. And the free coffee at work doesn't hurt either.

What are these sleeping patterns you speak of?? I have had insomnia pretty much my whole life, hardly slept as a baby and have gotten progressively worse. I tend to sleep only between dawn and noon and even then I often get little more than 2 or 3 hours. It's great, get to live more. Sleep when I'm dead.

Slowly change your sleeping schedule until it falls in a normal one. Most people find it pretty hard to suddenly change from going to bed at 5 AM to going to bed at 10 PM, so you're better off trying to move it back by 30-60 minutes each night.
