Facebook/Myspace with your parents
I'm just curious how many of you guys have your parents as a friend on Facebook/Myspace.
The good or bad thing about it is that you will always be watched and have to be careful what you write ![]() As for me, none of my parents have any accounts on Facebook or Myspace. Discuss.
Thanks to Fjordor for the funny image!

None, both of them avoid the computer as best they can.

My mom has one [Facebook], and is a complete addict. I've added her to play things like Scrabulous and such. I don't really have to worry about things I write, because I don't USE mine for that. Basically just to keep in touch with friends and whatnot.
As for my dad, he lives out in the boonies, and for years he's pretty much just refused to own a computer, or something. I think he uses one at work sometimes, but I doubt he even knows what Facebook IS. |
|
Neither of my parents have one. My father doesn't care about the internet and my mother is pretty much a luddite.
Not that I would care. There are very few secrets between my parents and I. If we had secrets between us, it would be ammunition to fire at each other with. I make sure no one has ammunition to shoot at me as often as I can. |
|
My mother only has a facebook account because my sister-in-law's photos of my nephew are friends only, so she wants to be able to see those. So yes, I have her on my friends list, but it's not quite the same as if she was regularly using her account to post stuff. Half the time I have to access her account for her to fix settings and so forth.

Neither of my parents are on Facebook, thankfully. I'm not sure they'd quite know what to do with it even if they tried to get accounts. And no matter what they said or did, no way in hell would I add them as contacts on there.

I just had to tell my dad, in detail, how to switch from one running program to another. Yeah. Needless to say, neither so much as understand the concept of social networking sites, so I'd be more than surprised if either ever decided to make an account. My secrets are safe for now.

My dad doesn't seem to see the purpose of interacting with people over the internet and my mom is pretty computer illiterate. So needless to say neither of them have facebook or myspace accounts.

My parents don't care about it. Two of my friends' moms added me on facebook. They say it's for the pictures, but I know that they want to know everyone's business. Come on, it's obvious...

My mum JUST got an MSN account yesterday, and only so she could keep in touch when she goes to Nepal. I think if they ever got Facebook, they would be on either the limited profile list or the not added list. As Sass said, no need to give them more reason to think I'm some sort of delinquent.

Neither of my parents have them, as far as I know. My mom barely knows how to turn the computer on, and my dad is entirely convinced that just having something as simple as AIM automatically gives you a virus, so I doubt that he'd feel safe with Facebook or Myspace.
My best friend's mom, however, has a facebook profile, and is my friend. She rarely uses it, and I'm pretty sure she has less than 20 friends. I dont bother hiding anything from her, because she knows that drinking happens in college, and I have nothing else incriminating on my profile. I doubt she'd say anything about it if I did, anyways. ![]() |

I'm friends with my friends' parents, but my own are not on either site. They know what it is, and how much I use Facebook, but they have never expressed interest in having a page for themselves.
I find it much more awkward that several of my professors are on Facebook, and are friends with me. But what can you do but accept a friend invite from your professor? |
|
Neither of my parents has either account. My dad's computer illiterate and my mum probably just couldn't care less. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't see anything that would suprise them; they know me too well. I do have my local pub landlord on facebook though.

My parents would never get accounts since they don't use the computer a lot and don't really have time for any of that. I do have a few relatives around my age on my friends list so they're able to see what goes on, but I don't think they're as active on their accounts as I am.
