Since I'm not at the home with my mom, I mailed off some cards to my mom and my grandma. It's more than I've done in the past; when I used to live at home, we went out to the nicest restaurant in town and had dinner. Pretty generic, I suppose, but that's all that we've ever done.

Which one? Not the Vintage Press... That restaurant is god-awful. Tommy's is just as over-priced but at least their food is edible.

No, the only time we go to the VP is at lunch, if my old viola teacher wants to. Because she loves that place; the only really great thing there is the rice pilaf, and my mom has their recipe. We usually go to the Depot. I'm not sure how that stacks up at the moment, but besides the VP it has the most pedigree for 'nice restaurants.' Plus, we know the manager and some of the waiters, so the service is at least worth the price.

You can't drop information like that and not tell us what she did.

A nail file would be a versatile gift.
