Best Water-Park

OK so summer is pretty much just around the corner. (-ish). Point is it's close! I dunno about you, but I'm pretty excited. Anyway, one of THE things to do during summer is visit a water-park. (Yes, I know, there's all sorts of dirt and filth in those waters, wah, wah wah. Nothing a whole-lotta chlorine and a good shower can't take care of)

So, which water-park do you prefer and why? Down here in Southern-CA, it's pretty much Six-Flags Hurrican Harbor Vs. Raging Waters. Not sure which one I'd personally go with...

I don't usually go to water parks, but there is a reasonably good one close to home, calle Michigan's Adventure. And, now that they have been bought off by Cedar Point, I predict a lot more good things to come.

Also, Cedar Point's water park is really great, ignoring the water rides within the campus itself. There is such a variety of things around that I was amused for 2 days with all the fun things they had.

There's a place around here called Sandcastle (creative!) that's pretty ok. It has a bunch of tube slides, and three big speed slides. In addition to all that, there's a few swimming pools, a lazy river, and a wave pool. I also get the $39.99 season pass, which is really nice, especially considering it costs more than half that just to get in one time.

There's this one in the next town over (New Braunfels) called Schlitterbahn, which is supposed to be hella cool (I wouldn't know, as I have never been, as I can't swim). It's apparently one of the top water parks in the country. Well, it looks all cool in the commercials and stuff, anyways (lol at their catch phrase though, "The hottest, coolest time in Texas!")

As for ones in town (San Antonio), there's Splashtown, which is like the Schlitterbahn for poor people (seriously, everyone tells me it sucks), and then there is the one inside Six Flags Fiesta Texas (the only one I've actually been to, near-drowning experience and all), which is cool but not as big as the others. So your best for a water park in Texas is Schlitterbahn.

I've never been to those... but Wild Rivers is pretty cool.

Here in northeast Ohio the only one I'm aware of is Geuga Lake, which is run by nazis, although I think I heard Cedar Point a little ways west of here has one but I don't know for sure.

I remember Europe having some pretty sweet water parks when my family was living in Germany. They have a good number of rides I wager you'd never see here in the U.S. because over here they'd just be lawsuits waiting to happen, but maybe I'm wrong.

Some parks I can remember off the top of my head are the Aquatoll in the Heilbronn area and this other one somewhere in the Netherlands called Duinrell.

EDIT: 'Seven Peaks' is just a 5-10 minute drive south of where I live, but I can't say I have any basis on which to consider it among the better or best since there haven't been too many water parks I've been to here in the US.

It really is badass, mostly because of the damn size of the place. I mean, they have a huge-ass wavepool, a whole section of the park for small kids, river tubing, rapids rides, chute rides, pools of all kinds, jacuzzis...the list goes on. One of the really ingenious things about the park, though, is that if you want to get from one side of the park to another, you can usually take a ride to end up there. They were really smart in building the place, not only for that, but because they used the Guadalupe river to their advantage. (incorporating it into some of the rides)

And, damn, it's been something like 10 years since I last went out there. Since then they've built a bunch of new rides. The downside is that it is kinda expensive for a water park. I think you end up with your money's worth, though.

My favorite water park is defintely Water Country USA. It's located in Williamsburg, VA and also right next to Busch Gardens.

Water Country USA is pretty big, and it has a lot of those 4-6 group water rides, where you could ride with others. Even the kiddy pools there are fun. Oh WC also has the best wave pool ever!

Yeah. I went there about a year ago. It was absolutely amazing. The only problem I had with it was the insane line waits for the main rides like "The Master Blaster", but I guess that's standard for any huge, popular waterpark. Other parts of the park I enjoyed was definitely the lazy river. Once you need a break you can kick back on an inner tube and just relax with friends.

As a kid, my parents took a trip to Disney World in Florida. There was a water park there that I remembered being pretty awesome, more awesome than say, Raging Waters (we were visiting from LA).

Of course, I'm sure as an ignorant 8 year old who ate nothing but pancakes for the whole trip simply because I could wouldn't really know any better.

I'll agree with you on Water Country USA. I've been there at least every other summer. It's pretty fun, though I haven't been to any other water park to compare, but Water Country USA is pretty frikkin huge. They get a new attraction every year, and when I was younger, their water playgrounds were ridiculously fun.

I have heard they've built a brand new Schlitterbahn in Galveston. One of my friends went there. She highly recommends it. Schlitterbahn it is!

Yeah. They're still in construction, but a lot of the park is open. They say that the park itself will cover approximately 15 acres worth of land. The aerial photos of it look pretty cool.

There's a Splashtown in Houston, so I'm guessing they finally branched out to San Antonio. I don't live there anymore, but nice to meet someone from central Texas. I used to live in New Braunsfels/Seguin/Houston(err, not central)--moved before a supposedly huge flood went through and took out Schlitterbahn. Did that really happen?

I'll agree with Schlitterbahn being absolutely awesome. A ticket there costs about as much as a season pass to Spashtown, but it's worth it. The park used water from a aquifer and river nearby, so the water in some parts was without chlorine and COLD. No harsh chemicals to the eyes or anything.

Hurricane Harbour is pretty kick-ass

Without a doubt Schlitterbahn is the best, go to the one in San Antonio, you will love it!
